Clicking outside of the ROBLOX player still triggers mouse events

When you have the ROBLOX player in focus, clicking outside of the window will still be registered as a mouse click at that location by the game. This is pretty annoying because whenever you want to switch to a different window on your computer, you will accidentally activate the tool in your hand or otherwise click on something in the game that you didn’t mean to. This bug can also be observed by clicking on the ROBLOX player’s title bar.

I’m experiencing this bug on Windows 10. It only happens in the ROBLOX player in an online game, not in Studio. I believe it started happening in the first or second week of November.

I’ve set up a simple repro place where you can observe the bug:

All you have to do is:

  1. Be focused in the ROBLOX window
  2. Click anywhere outside it
The game will still register the click outside of the ROBLOX window.

The bug also means that mouse movement will still be tracked even when the mouse moves outside of the focused ROBLOX window, as you can see with the gun tool’s aiming.

This happens to me as well, super annoying when playing games.

This has been happening for a while now, it’s particularly annoying if you have two monitors and clicking from the game client to the others screen triggers these events which messes the camera and mouse up.

Just submitted a fix for this, making it into the last release this year by a few hours! Should come out in about a week.
