Client suddenly became incredibly slow

Since yesterday, every roblox game i’m joining is nearly unplayable. From a solid 60 fps to 15-20 fps. I’ve checked the task manager and it takes up very little memory and cpu. Other games like Overwatch don’t have this issue at all.

The frame drop only occurs on the PC version. The W10 app works perfectly fine. Uninstalling did not help.

Post a screenshot of the microprofiler (Ctrl+Shift+F6) for one of the slow frames. Also make sure ROBLOX is using your GTX graphics card (if you also have integrated graphics).

Also having this issue, Studio seems to be very much the same with a framerate significantly lower than usual.

There was a huge frame drop for me yesterday in Studio. It was so buddy to move around. Although when I restarted my pc it was fine.

When i’m in an area with a lot of particles (15 people respawning in a lobby for example) the game almost freezes. I suppose this might have something to do with it.

Could you please upload a profiler dump somewhere so that we can take a look? (After you press Ctrl+F6, there’s an option to create a dump, which will be saved to c:\users\you\microprofile-data-time.html)

When i hovered over the orange graph thingy i noticed it doesn’t record any gpu usage (gpu time 0.00ms). Does this mean the client doesn’t recognize my graphics card?

When playing the W10 app version it does record gpu usage, and the graph isn’t filled all the way to the top.

I found the problem, and something awesome too!

After checking the Nvidia control panel, i found out that the roblox client was not automatically recognized as a compatible application. So i added the robloxplayerbeta.exe to the list and made it so that the gpu does the rendering instead of the integrated graphics

After restarting roblox, the game is suddenly Shadowplay-compatible! Now i can finally record roblox gameplay!

Yeah, zeuxcg has fixed the problem of picking integrated intel “display controller” instead of the actual graphics card, will ship soon.

Yeah - so we are switching to a better way of asking NVidia graphics driver to use that instead of Intel’s on dual-GPU systems, but during the switchover process the default choice is wrong :frowning: Should be fixed later today, I’ll post here to make sure nobody else has issues with it after update.

The old method worked for some systems but not for some other systems, hopefully the new method will work all the time.

Will we ever see the revival of the secret roblox settings with nvidia control panel? Made it look so amazing!

I’m not sure what you mean.

Dang, I can’t find the original video.

Basically on the Nvidia Control Panel you could edit some settings which made roblox look REALLY AMAZING.

There was a video showing the difference, but this is all I can find.

Alright, the automatic selection has been re-enabled. Hopefully it all works fine now.

If your client is still slow please check the contents of ROBLOX logs folder; the recent files with _1.txt suffix should say at the top smth like “D3D11 Adapter: NVidia GeForce …” if you have a NV card - post here if it still picks an Intel adapter with your system specs (GPU, OS version) & the first few lines from the log.
