This is not the update that will bring Climbing Game to a playable state
We completely understand your excitement for a playable version of the climbing game. However, please keep in mind that we’re a small, part-time development team still learning and growing as we work toward bringing this ambitious project to life.
Spoiler incoming:
Climbing game has had a lot of phases which we would call experimental phases, this update completely revamps Climbing game from being arcade like.
Edge Grabbing
Previously, players could grab and climb any part from any point, which felt a bit too easy and less immersive. With this update, players can now ONLY grab onto edges. This change adds an extra layer of challenge.
With this specific change we are able to experiment with more types of rock shapes other than blocky ones.
What to expect in future:
- More algorithm changes & improvements to edge detection
UI Overhaul & Sounds
Complete revamp of the UI to a much more modern, optimized, simple to understand with new UI sounds.
Optimization
This update includes a huge amounts of optimizations of scripts and to they way we make maps. Which contributes a lot to the amount of time it took for this update to be released.
Movement & Climbing
Huge amounts of script changes and tweaks & added values to improve the movement system together with climbing system. The there is not much happening visually to the animations compared to before however there is a lot of features that didn’t make it in due to time.
