Climbing raycast increased in range, causing climbing issues with character assembly

Starting July 29th at around 10PM PST we started encountering an issue in our game Adopt Me which caused players to start climbing when holding a baby.

We’re fairly confident this is because Roblox’s internal climbing ray is hitting the baby now. This happens most consistently with arms that bring the baby closer to the character, which happen to be any of the frequently used bundles in Adopt Me.

In this video I simply pick up a baby and walk forwards, resulting in the player climbing upwards:

In this video you can clearly see that if you parent the baby to the carrier’s character the problem goes away. This ray Roblox uses ignores every descendant of the character, so parenting to character is a quick solution, but not something we should expect to do to solve an issue like this. The expected behaviour is to not have the climbing behaviour happen in general when an object is attached to the character.

This is an unintentional bug caused by some climbing optimizations. Will disable for now and investigate, thanks for the report!

Ok should be off now, if you could verify that the baby holding is working as expected and report back here that would be great! Just want to make sure that change I disabled is indeed the cause of this.
