Clone effect in animation

Hello!
I’m making an advanced ai that is capable to fight to a player and make his own combos and abilities.

I Wanted that the ai was capable of use a “clone function” where the ai can clone itself creating shapes around the player a number of times using a difficulty driven by the AI using player progression and player skill.

That clones are going to be a bit transparent but I don’t know how to make a good feeling of a clone,animate all rigs at the same time without scripting and without affecting performance using humanoids.
