Couple things regarding this post:
- You’re asking way too much for a programmer, from a simple percentage pay. Programmers on Roblox aren’t so easy to find, and they value their time at a fairly decent price considering most of the programmers on this platform, do this as a career or a way to pay their bills (the ones who have worked on major projects in the past, and have the right experience and qualifications for what you’re asking).
- In the thread, you state that (statement found below)…
Thus, you’re paying 50-70% for both a builder, scripter, and UI designer, therefore my question is… what exactly are you contributing to the game? I would understand your reasoning asking for 30% - 50% of the project, if you were to be building the project - but in this case, it doesn’t seem like you are contributing anything to this project. I may be wrong, but I am going off the knowledge you have provided us in your thread.
- Another concern regarding your payment, in the thread you state that (statement found below)…
Of which, doesn’t make sense whatsoever. You’re expecting a programmer, UI designer, and builder to dedicate their time and effort for 200 Robux at the end of every 3 months.
Things to take into consideration:
• Programmers on Roblox value their time fairly, and accordingly to the project and the tasks it requires them to do… the same being for builders, and UI designers. Although programmers are the backbone of each game, so they do definitely value their time at a little higher rate compared to any other section of game development.
• It doesn’t seem like you’re contributing anything - again, I am basing this information off the thread you have provided us with, so I could be very well wrong. If you aren’t contributing anything though, you should take into consideration asking for a smaller percentage… such as 10% or so, regardless if this is your game idea.
From what I’ve read so far, you seem to be new to Roblox and the development category. I’ll provide you with some tips.
Tips:
• Pay the developers you’re looking for, fairly. A programmer for this time of project would easily ask for 400k+ Robux and 50% of the game.
• Keep in mind, some programmers do this as their career. Therefore, they cannot risk investing a ton of time into a project for it to end up completely flopping, therefore they will require a high Robux payment.
• 3 months to make this type of game isn’t enough. You’re asking for a game that your competition has spent years working on. It took Jailbreak roughly 2 years to make, and Mad City a year to make from my knowledge. Game development takes a fair amount of time, especially if you’re looking to compete with the biggest games on this platform.
• Fix up your payment, and be more descriptive about pay. You seem to be lacking detail about payment… it doesn’t make much sense to say “50% - 75%” split up among a programmer, builder and UI designer. They are 3 different tasks and jobs that take 3 completely different time lengths.
• If you don’t have enough Robux to correctly pay developers, do commissions. That’s what I did for the first couple years on this platform, and I’m sure that is what other developers do up to this day.
• If you don’t want to do commissions, consider having an investor onto the team. But note, you will have to have far lengths of development into the project, for them to even consider an investment. Investors will not invest in a project so early in development, as there is many risks.
• If this is your first game on Roblox, perhaps don’t try to compete with some of the largest games on the platform. Try something small first, and work your way up till you have enough experience.
• Don’t limit out payment, it discourages developers completely. You’re expecting a team of developers to spend 3 months working on a project like this, but yet you want to limit them out at 20,000 Robux? Doesn’t make sense. 20,000 Robux isn’t even Dev-Exable. Never limit developers out, unless you’re asking for a buggy game that’ll flop.
Best of luck.
EDIT: I realized that you’re the supposed builder of the project. I haven’t seen the pictures of the map, but I assume that they aren’t too good since you’re likely new to the platform.
