[CLOSED] Hiring 3D Modeler for Accelerator Project

Hi there! We’re Cinder Studio, and we’re looking to hire a 3D modeler for our upcoming new game, Super Striker League. It’s an action-packed, arcade-style soccer game that’ll be full of crazy power-ups, special abilities, and dynamic maps that will make this much more than your regular old game of soccer.

(Try the prototype version of the game here!)

I’m working on this game in the Roblox Accelerator program as the lead developer/scripter, and the rest of our team is working remotely. (Our past work includes Roblox High School 2, created last summer)

About the Job

As the 3D modeler, your job will primarily be to create accessories (shoes and gloves) for players to customize their character with. These items will be earned as players progress through the game, and they’ll range in rarity from everyday wearables to flashy/elaborate/fantasy items that’ll really stand out from the rest. Each item will also come in different colored varieties as well. The items should have an average amount of detail, and they aren’t all expected to have a realistic style.

To start things out, we’ll need about 15 of each type of item (shoes/gloves), as well as their different colored variants, to populate the first wave of items and have enough content for launch. We will provide reference images/concept art for each item that’s needed.

Our previous 3D modeler unfortunately had to depart due to real life circumstances, so there’s plenty of work left to do. The game’s release is coming up soon (late August), so over the next 2 months, you must have at least 20 hours a week to work on this game so we can have everything ready on time.

Payment Details

You’ll be paid somewhere around 10,000 - 30,000 R$ in group funds for each item; the amount depends on the complexity and quality of that particular item. (example: ~10,000 R$ for basic items, ~30,000 R$ for elaborate rare items).

You’ll be joining us as a full member of the team, so you’ll be expected to continue to create more content on an ongoing basis after the initial release. On top of the flat payments, I also offer a small percentage of monthly game profits as a bonus for this post-release content development (likely around 3% - it depends on how much work is being done + the quality of the work)

The key to a strong team is strong relationships - beyond just being good at their job, we’re looking for someone who really wants to be a part of the project and a part of our team. We hope you’ll be around in the Discord chat so we can all get to know each other better.

(NOTE: If you would prefer to just do a fixed amount of contract work throughout the next 2 months, rather than committing to full team membership and post-release development, I’m fine with that as well - just let me know. I’m looking to get this first batch of items done as soon as possible.)

Would you be able to provide an insight into what some of the other assets look like? I’m potentially interested but want to know what expectations you’ve got for detail and quality visually.

Not sure which shapes would be expected from this project from seeing the prototype, which allows users to have their on-site avatars. Are they planned to be swapped with pre-set ones, or are on-site avatars the plan for these gloves and shoes?

If it is pre-set avatars, what’s the plan to have these items fit across most users? Would they be more square around the base to compensate for users who have the blocky look from not wearing a bundle, or rounded out a little as a way to try going for “One size fits most”?

Along with that, how would detail for things such as color be expected to be added? UV mapping and textures, or vertex painting?

Our previous modeler didn’t quite get to finishing any of the shoe/glove models or textures, but here are the test meshes he provided:

Some example reference images would be:

They should have an average amount of detail, but we’re not looking to create exact, 100% detailed replicas of these shoes. They’re not expected to have an extremely high poly count. Since it’ll be a fast-moving game, extremely minute details wouldn’t really be visible during the action.

Players will be restricted to certain avatar packages to ensure that the items will fit nicely, and also because these packages support custom clothing (Roblox Boy and Roblox Girl will be the main packages we design the items for, and we’ll also support Man, Woman, and 2.0 - 1.0 will also be allowed in the game but we are not designing the items to fit that body type) So yeah the items will have a rounded shape to fit the modern packages that most players are wearing nowadays.

The players’ hands and feet parts will be deleted and replaced with these items when they’re equipped, and I’ll dynamically scale the models in-game to fit each package.

UV mapping and textures will probably be the preferred way to add detail for these items.

Still accepting applications for this position!

If you would prefer to just do a fixed amount of contract work throughout the next 2 months, rather than committing to full team membership and post-release development, I’m fine with that as well - this first batch of items is the most important and I want to be 100% sure it gets done before release.

If there’s any other questions/concerns that are blocking you from applying, let me know! I’m hoping to fill this position as soon as possible, and I wanna make sure it’s something that works well for both of us.

Hello, I saw your post for a 3D modeller and I am very interested!

You can find some of my work here:

Thanks!

This position is now filled! Thanks to everyone who applied.

I played the Testing Server and the controls are good and the stadium looks really cool. One thing I would recommend is that you add more “skills” and you can add a “skills” GUI, and when you try a new trick it gets added to the Skills Book. One thing i like is that with a hard kick you can knock down the goalie and fire again.
