Hey! I am looking for a scripter with a good understanding of roblox scripting to make a game inspired by Lumber Tycoon 2, aswell as games such as Build a Boat for Treasure. Details below, obviously
Quick explanation of my development background because I dont usually post here, you can skip this:
Summary
I am a 16 year old developer from Germany, general 3D art and modding games have been my main hobby since I started just over 4 years ago, since then I’ve been active in communities of games like Ravenfield, Minecraft or BeamNG. This isnt my first big project, I spent a lot of time in those projects, though this is my first “standalone” game. I joined Roblox two years ago, where I spent most of my time in the StyLis Community Mapping Program, that’s how I got familiar with Roblox Studio. I am currently the only developer on this game.
I have roughly 1500 words of documentation on the game (if that says anything, at all), just let me try to give you a quick explanation of the main ideas and plans behind this game.
(Longer and abstract description)
The game is an engineering and exploration-based tycoon. It features a large open world filled with various types of resources that can be harvested, transported, processed and either sold or built with. Exploring farther parts of the map progresses the player through the game by allowing access to rare types of resources and shops selling better tools and objects.
The challenge lies within getting to those places and harvesting its resources efficiently.
The player is free to build his own vehicles for the job as well as building his own factories where they can automate a fairly deep processing system, which feeds back into and accelerates progression.
Allowing players to express themselves in the building and socialize is one of the main features of roblox in general and should be kept in mind.
(As differences to Lumber Tycoon 2)
What all this really means is, that if you go from Lumber Tycoon 2, I want to expand the engineering aspects by adding player built vehicles and offering resource processing that goes further than just sawmills.
Those deeper features in combination with a bigger map should also provide more of a mid- to late-game, as LT2 stalls out very quickly after you have explored its somewhat limited map.
The LT2 community is still very active with thousands of players online at any time, but there hasnt really been made anything like it in the past 10 years (just look up: games like LT2), so I think this project has massive potential.
I started some testing and ideas on the project about a year ago,
currently I’ve spent 2-3 months on making usable content for the game.
(what I made so far+SCREENSHOTS)
I worked about a month on this 10000x10000 stud terrain.
I imported it into roblox and painted the terrain in the central 1/5 of the map. There I also made roads, bridges, mineshafts, a physically working rail network (because that’s clearly the coolest part about this whole game (I tested it and it does work)), and generally a bunch of shops and other buildings. Trees are from a plugin for visualization. Also spent about a month on it.
Heres a little overview of the built area
I also put together a procedural wood shader in blender which lets me create endless tilable and unique textures that fit the roblox style.
Also have this small collection of axes, though I will probably make new ones.
You can take a look at place yourself, here is the link.
Your job as the scripter will be exactly that, scripting all of the games features :D. I have ambitious plans, but for now we are going to concentrate on the minimal viable product.
Before we can think about expanding into new territory, we will first need to reach the standards of what’s already out there, which, for now, includes:
A zone system for soundtrack and blending terrain colour/lighting
Resource placement
Tree generator
Cutting down trees, mining rocks
Picking objects up
Object ownership
Player blacklist/whitelist
Shops/NPCs for buying, selling items and land
Object placement on the land
Machines to process resources
Garage parts with objects that can communicate, heat/drying system,
these two are fairly important new features
I can offer 50% revshare, I plan to monetize as much as I can without hurting the gameplay.
If you still think its too risky, I can also provide assets in exchange for your own projects, I should be fairly flexible with what I can offer, but I wont be able to get any substantial amount of R$ together.
Ill be watching my devforum notifications regularly, but its best to add me on discord:

Thanks for taking your time to read this, if youre interested and or have questions about the project feel free to ask me and I hope I can see you soon in development!!
