Hello there! I am very interested into this position!

You are asking for alot for no payment and also you said “We will pay you as we feel do so, this is a voluntary position.” that’s not right to do, he’s taking his time to do the job not work for free… and ontop of that you say you pay as you feel…

Community managers, In-game Administrators, along with Moderators are voluntary positions. 9/10 Game staff don’t receive payment unless of-course they contributed/Developed the game.

But I think @inblur has a point. Since managers have a responsibility for ensuring the games success far after principal development has been completed, they should be given a share of the profits. Their job is to make the game marketable while developers need to make the game playable. You can’t have a marketable game that’s unplayable, just as you can’t have a playable game that’s unmarketable.

Consider the following jobs a manager has to do simply get your game noticed:

  1. Manage GFX artists to create advertisements that excite and capture and audiences attention

  2. manage group advertising and sponsership budgets so as to not oversell the game but ensure it is always being marketed to a wide audience.

  3. make campaign decisions to choose exactly what marketing strategy your game will follow in order to gain the most viewership.

  4. manage the games finances to make sure that the marketing campaign is working

  5. respond to client complaints and act as a middle man between developer and customer

  6. manage a team of moderators to ensure that the game isn’t being exploited improperly

  7. organize community events in line with the marketing campaign to foster excitement

This is just a short list of what this manager has to do. And they’ll be doing this for as long as they’re in their job. It’s unrealistic to expect them to do it for free long term. As a result, I would strongly urge you to pay your manager, even if they do answer this ad asking for a volunteer one. It’s not just the right thing to do, it’ll make you a better employer with a better reputation long term.

Hope this was helpful.

Would you rather no pay? We are still paying our voluntary staff members but as we do know how much revenue we will pull in I cant give an approximate amount.

At the very least, a percentage should be provided or an estimate range, because currently you make it seem as though this is a volunteer position without guaranteed pay.

I would not know an estimate as we have 3 developers and we are not sure how much traction our game will get so how can I give an estimate? I fully understand you argument though.

Yes, exactly thanks, that’s what we needed!

A Manger helps run the project, you can’t not pay him… If you cant manage your project by your own, then hire a manager and pay him, cause if he leaves you’re pretty much doomed

Keep in mind were not a huge studio.

Yes, but still there should be a pay reserved for a manager, just to show appreciation and not an attitude of “we’ll pay as we feel so”!
