Clouds stereoscopic rendering broken

When a Clouds instance is present in Lighting, the clouds do not render in the correct position when Roblox Studio is run in VR mode.

Reproduction steps:

Before starting, make sure to:

  • Enable the Clouds beta in Roblox Studio
  • Check VR is set to On in the in-game settings menu
  1. Open SteamVR
  2. Open Roblox Studio after SteamVR is opened (allowing you to test in VR)
  3. Open this repro file: TheMillionthVRBug.rbxl (27.9 KB)
  4. Press ‘Play’
  5. Look up

It’s hard to demonstrate the graphical issue without a VR system, but to attempt to describe the issue; both eyes see the clouds at different (incorrect) positions, meaning they don’t fuse the image properly, leading to an uncomfortable and unusual viewing experience.

This is most easily seen in screenshots by tilting your head 90 degrees and looking at the horizon:

CPU: i5-8600K
Memory: 16 GB
GPU: GeForce GTX 1660
