It is concerning that they still want to proceed with deprecating and essentially removing them. Only hoping that “pending” is not going into live and is canned
I wonder if the avatar I sent to Roblox for testing was even used to address the issues. It really seems like they just didn’t bother ensuring the backwards compatibility of specifically designed outfits, even after so much was said about that as a concern
We should be allowed to bulk up avatars to our liking and shape them to our own. I don’t like that being limited
I sent them a few avatars as well after being DM’d by an engineer.
This will be so disappointing if this change actually goes through. What’s the point in actually trying to be creative with new avatar technology if Roblox can just suddenly decide to break everything you’ve designed and spent Robux on over the last few years? I might as well just go back to using the block body with classic clothing…
Technically you could use negative Puffiness values to compress the item if you knew what you were doing. Also, this change is not going to affect single-layer outfits at all. I feel like most people here are missing the point. If you’re wearing a t-shirt and nothing else it is going to look the exact same. The shirt is going to stay just as bulky as it was before.
This change is only going to compress multi-layered outfits, which was the entire reason Puffiness existed in the first place. Notice how in all of the examples provided by the OP the characters are wearing multiple layers (jacket over shirt).
Looks like it was an issue on my end, something decided to set itself to true in my IxpSettings.json that caused my layered clothing to appear weirdly.
In Studio, changing the Puffiness value in the wrap layer doesn’t do anything anymore. I guess they decided to go with the deprecation. Sad, some outfits don’t look the way I want anymore. Holster straps and such cause strange deformations in certain areas because of it, too.
Can’t say I like this update, unfortunately. It removed an useful feature that I actively made use of.
Hmm weird, I wonder if it’s deployed for all users? If I go into Studio, and try to change Puffiness, it doesn’t change anything, and some outfits have a few odd parts since items I don’t want compressed are compressed no matter what I do.
Still haven’t noticed a difference in my clothes. Puffiness still works. Perhaps it’s a slow rollout.
I just wish Roblox would say something instead of keeping me worrying that all of the clothes I’ve bought over the last 3 years might suddenly become worthless. Almost feels like I’m being scammed out of my Robux.
I really don’t want this update to ship. I don’t see any point to this. Puffiness can already accomplish most of what this update aims to automate.
Yeah, really strange. My Studio had 3 updates today, and the puffiness does not do anything anymore for me. I already have an outfit with odd deformations. I fear this is gonna be rolled out for everyone over the coming days…
Sorry to bother, but if you think you have the update, mind quickly running this in the command bar on an empty baseplate, and posting a screenshot of the result? Really curious as to how my avatar will look with this update.
The most obvious change here is that it completely ruined my arms, making them super bulky. I really do not want to look like a bodybuilder.
However, this is due to me having another shirt under the jacket that you can’t see, and also being unable to further compress the jacket with Puffiness. This makes the jacket appear very bulky.
Removing the underlying shirt, and, it’s not as bad, but the same issue I had with 2023’s beta feature is back… just as I expected.
I don’t like the ridges or the sharp shoulders. I was able to solve this problem with Puffiness. Now, just like in the previous beta, the problem is back and I can’t fix it. This looks awful.
Also, my hair is slightly clipping through the jacket. This is another problem I was able to solve with Puffiness, as mentioned in the quoted post.
At least in the previous beta I could still use Puffiness to compress the jacket so that my hair wouldn’t clip. I literally can’t fix anything now.
For my shoes… they’re bigger, another thing I expected to happen due to me being unable to compress them with Puffiness. I do not want this. My shoes were perfect before.
My pants are also slightly more compressed and wrinkled for whatever reason.
I still don’t get why this wasn’t a Studio beta feature, but anyway, let’s try some more avatars! Here’s all the feedback I wish I could’ve given two months ago.
Since I can’t compress the jacket with Puffiness, it’s now a lot more bulky. Everything else is OK, except for the fact that the boots now clip through the pants. Weird.
This isn’t a full avatar, but, well, a pair of shoes. I used to use these shoes in 2022 because there wasn’t a very large selection of shoes back then.
For some reason they look very different in the front now.
Once again, the space suit is more bulky because I can’t compress it with Puffiness.
Despite Puffiness not working here, resulting in the Puffiness essentially being at 1, the space suit doesn’t appear as inflated as it would normally be (at Puffiness 1, without the new LC system enabled), presumably because of the flaring fix. I included two “before” photos to explain this.
But it still looks better at Puffiness -1 with the old system.
I thought I was done, but I guess I’m not. This change breaks some of Roblox’s own avatar bundles!
Look at how the eyebrows clip into the head with the new system enabled.
Roblox has a ton of free bundles in this art style, so I wouldn’t doubt that this issue happens on some of the other ones. This was just the first one I happened to pick.

Here’s an .rbxm of all the avatars showcased here.
So yeah, most avatars I throw at the new system look worse. Maybe if you’re using a realistic Rthro avatar, or you aren’t doing anything too complicated (i.e. you aren’t relying on Puffiness), it’d look better. But that’s the thing — it doesn’t take any of my complex configurations into account at all. This new system seems like it was specifically done to make LC less confusing for new players.
The new system makes all clothes similar to if they all had a Puffiness of 0… that is, not allowing the clothes’ bulkiness to stack like they normally would at Puffiness 1… with some other changes here and there.
So… you get the convenience of no longer having to manually lower the top layer’s Puffiness to 0, I guess. And, since you don’t have to do that, Puffiness is being removed.
But what about going past that? I feel like Roblox genuinely was not aware that you can set Puffiness to a number lower than 0. This is what most of my outfits depend on, so now they appear more inflated, since their previous negative Puffiness values no longer apply!
And also, what if you genuinely want your clothes to be fully-inflated? What about using Puffiness to further fine-tune your clothes and body? How is this fair to anyone?
I feel like Roblox could’ve just, changed the default Puffiness value to 0, and shipped the fix for flaring. That’s it. Everything else related to compressing multi-layered outfits doesn’t need to happen. For me personally, it causes way more problems than anything else. Problems that I can’t fix because Puffiness no longer exists.
If the default Puffiness value was 0 instead of 1, the bulkiness of multi-layered outfits wouldn’t be a problem, and everyone with advanced LC configurations would be able to keep their existing outfits.
Sorry if this was kinda ranty but I’m just so frustrated by this change. I love customizing LC. But now, so many clothes I’ve bought over the last 3 years are going to look worse and there’s nothing I can do about it.
I would also prefer to be working on my game right now but instead I have to write this giant post begging Roblox to not ruin my outfits.
Oops, sorry, I was already in bed by the time I posted that so I didn’t see the thread.
I do notice a difference between the avatar in the website, which I assume is the old one, and the result I get in Studio.
Avatar preview view
As you can see, everything looks like normal, it’s a skintight tactical sneaking suit, and the straps aren’t compressing me like and old corset, which is the opposite of what happens here:
Now thanks to the changes, the sneaking suit is compressed under the straps and gear areas, as if I was wearing a death trap. I’d be surprised if I didn’t have problems with blood flow by just wearing that. The entire torso is crunched inwards thanks to these changes, and I have no way of fixing them back to normal anymore.
It may also not be as noticeable but the gloves also look bigger, making the hands way too big, and the slight poke through of the under suit gloves which I was trying to hide with the arm warmers, is a lot more noticeable now.
Granted, I am using shorts underneath, which may be making the strap issue worse, but I had to, because the surface removal with the suit wasn’t working properly with my body for some reason, making legs clip through the suit, and this was the only way to properly hide them.
Clipping
I spent a long time, and a good bit of money, trying to get an RThro-friendly sneaking suit through constant browsing and trial/error of different combinations. The goal was to get something similar to what you see in these infiltration games. It wasn’t perfect yet, but the current result did the job until anything better came out.
Is there seriously no way to keep the new changes while preserving the existing functionality of the “Puffiness” value?
[EDIT] More comparisons, left is current update, right is avatar previewer. You can definitely see a noticeable bloat in all of the outfits that made use of negative puffiness:
It is supposed to be way puffier to add more fluff to the character’s design. I’ve done this with multiple avatars, and this ruins it completely. The way I currently have the avatar is exactly what I want it as. I don’t want them changed
I like having my characters be puffy, and this completely ruins it. There is no way even to change it back after this is rolled out, and it’s ugly. I’ve sent Roblox my avatar in hopes of keeping my avatar intact after the update. Guess they completely threw my HumanoidDescription away
I hate to say this, but this is really pushing me away from using layered clothing altogether. Most of my avatars are ruined because of this change, and I will not be able to restore them back to their original forms. Thanks, Roblox, for ruining a feature for me!
Honestly, Roblox should have only fixed the flaring issue and added a way to change puffiness natively in the avatar editor. This just isn’t it
