About Me
Well, it’s 5 AM in Brazil and I’m here, making a portfolio together with a Brief history of my experience in the programming world. Well, I’m 17 years old, I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I currently live in a neighborhood called “Vargem Pequena”, but I was born and raised in a low-income neighborhood called “Penha”. Anyway, since I was 14 I started programming, with c++ when I went to help some friends with a robotics project for an Olympics, by the way, if you’re Brazilian and you’re wondering what school this was, it’s Colégio Militar do Rio de Janeiro. At roblox, my first contact with roblox studio was in 2013, when I took everything from the toolbox, put it in the workspace and started playing lmao. My second contact happened a year after my contact with c++, I started to make simple scripts that I researched on youtube (but always trying to understand what was written in the codes), but I hadn’t gone into that deep, because my goal at the time was to pass college more difficult to get into Brazil, in which, in fact, there were two: “IME” and “ITA” (By the way, my father studied at IME, which made me more motivated to study). And then we reached 2020, the most difficult year of my life and for many people. In the beginning, I was taking a preparatory course focused on IME/ITA, everything was going so well, but in a snap, everything had stopped:
Schools, markets, public transport, everything. My mother, who had just given birth to my sister and who had to go to work, ended up having to sell candy to order to try to support my sister and me. And it was browsing through the roblox community on discord that I found my mother’s “savior”, Hidden Devs. That’s when it started… the months when I was most dedicated to something in my life. To pass college? No. Gain knowledge? Maybe, but it wasn’t the focus. It was simply to help my mother, the person who most supported me in my dreams and goals. There were a lot of jobs, some I could deliver on time, others I couldn’t, but in the end I managed to help my mother with some things. Anyway, why am I here writing this life experience together with my portfolio? Because even though the pandemic took a lot of things away from me, including people I loved, Roblox made it up to me by giving me this beautiful API so I could play with creating universes (even on a cheap laptop with broken keys) and be able to make a living from it, really, thank you. This text will be part of my application for the roblox 2022 accelerator program, along with my portfolio so that everyone can feel free to contact me. One more thing… Roblox Engineers, Roblox Staff and etc… Thanks for helping my mom (indirectly) and I’ll be there in San Mateo working for you someday, and even if I don’t join the accelerator of this one once, I won’t get tired of trying
