However, when I tried to open a second instance of studio to transfer some models across via copy + paste, the studio froze up when loading the start page before closing without an error message - it did this a few times, though seems to be working okay now, apologies for being unable to get a video of this. Essentially it said “Loading studio”, the page went blank, then a few seconds later after the application was hanging it exited with no error code
My system information:
Windows 11
AMD Ryzen 7730U
16GB SODIMM 3200MT/s RAM
512GB SSD NVMe
Integrated graphics - Radeon Graphics
It’s a laptop device, relatively new with a release year of 2022/2023 I believe, had no issues in the past with requirements and it runs both studio and player just fine on graphics settings 1 to 6/7, hence my confusion on why this error appeared at all
Expected behavior
I don’t believe my system was actually out of the minimum graphic specs etc, I figure this is some kind of error with hardware detection or something, could be detrimental or more permanent on other devices so I figured I’d report it
You can go directly to AMD’s website and download the latest drivers for your specific AMD Radeon Graphics card.
You can also try and use the generic driver update software BUT it may cause problems, I recommend trying the method above
Check for Windows Updates
Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for any new updates.
Change Graphics Settings in Roblox Studio
If you can get into Studio, go to File > Settings > Rendering. In the Graphics Mode menu, try switching from “Automatic” to Vulkan or Direct3D11. Restart Studio to see if that helps.
Fully Reinstall Roblox Studio
Go to your computer’s settings and uninstall Roblox Studio and the Roblox Player.
Open the Run prompt (Windows Key + R) and type %localappdata%.
Find and delete the entire Roblox folder.
Restart your computer.
Re-download and install Roblox Studio from the official website.#
If you are still experiencing this issue, please let me know.
Thanks, and I hope this could provide assistance for someone else with a slightly different system but:
My laptop uses integrated graphics and the driver itself is vendor locked due to being a laptop - this means it won’t allow updates to prevent incompatibilities with the rest of the device and/or chipset, this is commonplace in laptops and iGPU’s in general
No new updates, also important to note is that this is a fresh Windows install from around 5 or 6 days ago when I reformatted
Unless Roblox has swapped the default graphics backend or added a new one that was for some reason selected and is incompatible with my iGPU/drivers, I don’t see how this would help
Could be the move if it continued failed to open, but as listed I’m no longer experiencing any issues, works fine - just figured I’d report it incase it’s a more permanent error for other users/devices that would flat out refuse to open studio
This sounds unexpected for sure - not sure why it would only happen the first time. Can you DM a dump of a run of dxdiag.exe just to be sure we’re seeing what the system is reporting? Also, if you have a log from the run that blocked you we’ll take that too. Was this the very first time you started studio after the windows install?
Hiya, will DM a dump of dxdiag shortly. I’ll take a look for the logfiles for when I ran, though I’ve been in and out of studio a few times since then, not sure how far you guys cache log files back.
Wasn’t the first time I had started studio after the reformat, studio was working okay from day 1, though if its of any use it was the first time I started studio on that specific bootup of my laptop.
