It’s just annoying to see users acting like they hold some top secret information when it’s likely that a basic explanation wouldn’t hamper anything. I’m not asking for the all of the information, just something like “found an exploit” or “Pictures of Khanovich’s dinner”.

It doesn’t involve you, it doesn’t require community input, and in the interest of privacy, it’s best that it remains confidential.

I do apologise Mr Secret agent. You’re on a community forum, making a post that that can be (partially) seen by everybody on it, so of course it involves me and everybody else on the forum. Once again, I didn’t ask for specifics.
Edit: This isn’t just directed at you BTW. It’s something I’m commenting on based on lots of posts I’ve seen.

It doesn’t matter and it doesn’t involve you or anybody else on the forum, because confidential tagged posts are the best way for random dev forum users to report something bad. They don’t have a hidden-threads section do they.
You obviously haven’t taken the time to read my posts. My issue isn’t with the confidential tags, I would just appreciate some sort of basic explanation as to why they are required. Especially with exploits, we should help each other out. (I.E. “This is a confidential post but it contains details of a level 2 local code execution vulnerability”. This would gives fellow devs a heads up and will allow them to take action on their games that they feel is appropriate.) Hopefully we will gain a PM system at some point in the near future.
We have a policy on Confidential posts, and I’m about to introduce a new policy about people complaining about others keeping information confidential.
Just don’t do it.
Confidential threads are required until we have a Private Message system in place.
