Was unsure where to put this forum post, so ill put it here.
I was working on a game with my friend, we finished up an update and waited for some more people in our community to get online before updating, I updated, (I let studio close itself, however studio did stop responding, that should be noted) My friend updated it instead, all was well until we noticed that a building was incomplete that we had just completed. So, my friend went back into studio and checked if everything was the same as we had originally planned to update it as. It was not the same, and the same as in game. This means that something had to have corrupted or something like that to where it reverted progress by… according to version history, 4 HOURS! Yes, I went into version history to try and revert it. The last saved version was from just about 4 hours before updating. I have auto-saves on, so I went into that folder and the last save was from exactly a week ago. I went into the other auto-recovery folder, last save was JUNE 27TH! I tried everything I could find from the devforum. Maybe somebody could help? Thanks!

You should probably move this to Bug reports because I don’t think there are any problems with your scripts
It wouldnt let me post in bug reports
I wonder why? This is most probably a bug or just a leak in the game. I recommend making a save file of the non corrupted version and loading it into a new place, protect it as best as you can
Unsure what you mean be non-corrupted version, can you clarify? Also, I don’t believe its an issue in the game as other people have had similar issues. (not the same as my situation however)
The contents of your game before this phenomenon started occurring.
Alright, its saved. Man, this sucks though. We have already manually restored the major parts. Some other stuff I was doing (that was painfully annoying to do) hasn’t been finished though, hoping for somebody to know what’s going on here. Would be great to prevent in the future. Thanks for your time and goodnight!
So I went to Gpt and got this
- Check for Recent Backups:
- Local Backups: Ensure you’ve checked all possible locations for local backups. Sometimes backups are stored in unexpected places.
- Cloud Backup: If you have cloud storage linked (like Dropbox or Google Drive) and you were saving to the cloud, check those services for more recent backups.
- Version History:
- Roblox Studio Version History: Review the version history in Roblox Studio thoroughly. Sometimes, older versions might have been saved under different timestamps.
- Check for “Local” Versions: In the Roblox Studio’s version history, sometimes there are local saves that may not immediately appear.
- Collaboration and File Synchronization:
- Collaborator Actions: Ensure that all collaborators are using the same version of Roblox Studio. Different versions can sometimes lead to inconsistencies.
- Sync Issues: Verify if there were any sync issues between collaborators that might have caused discrepancies.
- Investigate Auto-Save Issues:
- Auto-Save Locations: Verify that Roblox Studio’s auto-save settings are correctly configured and that you’re looking in the right directory for these files.
- Corruption Check: Sometimes files can become corrupted. If you suspect this, you might want to use file repair tools or check forums for similar issues.
- Contact Roblox Support:
- Support Ticket: If you cannot recover the lost data through the above methods, consider reaching out to Roblox Support. Provide them with details and any relevant information. They might be able to help you recover or identify the issue.
Could be one of tthese, idk, but the ocollaborator sync thing makes the most sense
I agree with the collaborator sync thing making the most sense, ill check in with him about that now!
Just did the collaborator version/sync check thing; all checks out, no issues. We have the same studio version. Anyways, I will go to sleep now, goodnight! My friend might join in and reply to anything as he is staying up I believe.
Noted with, will look out for a post. Have a nice rest
