Introduction
Hey folks!
I wanted to share a cool project I’ve been working on: a system that converts any image into a 3D model made of individual parts in Roblox.
What It Does
This tool lets you:
- Input any image URL through a simple UI
- Adjust resolution scale to balance detail vs performance
- Select different performance modes for rendering
The results are fully 3D constructions that can be viewed from any angle, unlike traditional decals or textures.
How It Works
- The Client: Provides a UI for entering image URLs and configuring settings
- The Server: Processes the URL, fetches the image, and extracts pixel data
- The Client Again: Receives the processed data and builds the 3D model part by part
Yes, this does bypass ROBLOX image moderation, so this is why I’m most likely not going to release it as open source or a public game, but this is a easy project to do anyway. It took me a grand total of like 30 minutes to make this. Just wanted to show off something cool.
This could be added to a UI as well, in theory. My first working concept was using frames and billboard GUI’s, so yeah.
