you did fall to his fear mongering. from what i know coppa more affects roblox content creators, which will get less money because they won’t have targeted ads.

all COPPA 2.0 does is stop targeted ads and allow parents to closely monitor what their children are doing online which is objectively a good thing.

I don’t want my mum watching me play roblox…

My old Post:
If they add Screen Recording and viewing your child’s chat history, I wouldn’t be surprised.

That would honestly be amazing. Parents should have every tool at their hands to properly manage their child’s honestly history.

That would be good for parents to know what their child is doing on Roblox, but it seems embarrassing to have a parent watch you play Roblox when you don’t want them to. Chat history viewing is sort of okay. But lets admit it, we all don’t want our parents to watch us, and then when we become parents we probably have to give our future children embarrassing memories by watching them play Roblox daily all day.

I can’t think of one thing that a -13 yr old SHOULD be doing on Roblox that would be embarrassing for a parent to see. I’d argue this should be a feature for under -18 account to allow parents to better protect their children.

Agreed, this is honestly only like a bit overreacting just because the law might go into effect doesn’t mean that your life will be entirely ruined. But it does frustrate me so much because of how they really want more people to be not as mature as they are now and from before and how COPPA 2.0 is an overreaction of a response that can ruin platforms even more. And therefore, making platforms lose more of their audience which can destroy their stock.

You know what, this dude is trying to ragebait people and uses others attention for some ragebait publicity stunt. So he didn’t fell for kreek’s bait, hes clearly ragebaiting, not overreacting.

Well the people under 13 or 18 in your case don’t want to deal with having their parents watch their activities, parents should be aware of it though.
(Btw I deleted my previous posts before I did this cuz I wanted to include everything in this reply instead.)

Hey, is there any updates on this?

Honestly, so far no but I will try to keep everyone updated on this topic although no one is replying here basically anymore. Edit: By the way I haven’t been looking into the situation so yeah y’all have to look into it too.

Makes sense for him to exaggerate the situation in his video. But as I mentioned in the edit on the text of my topic, he had some inaccuracies which probably leads me to believe that he wasn’t trying to exaggerate this.

Just saying, realistically the chances that COPPA 2.0 would be approved is 4-52% depending on what else happens involving the situation.

He had some inaccuracies with the video. He responded to them here.
KreekCraft Was Wrong About COPPA 2.0?

This is very true. Roblox’s stock will crash when and if COPPA 2.0 gets officially approved.

This is partially true though. But the point of being a game designer in the Roblox community if this goes into effect is gone because the games from what I can tell are more unlikely to be picked up by the algorithm except as you said, “addicting games”. Plus safe chat being extended to those 16 and under kinda ruins the freedom for those who have 13+ accounts. How the hell this gonna hand parents powers to limit what their children are playing? COPPA 2.0 is basically doing that for them.
(Plus for everyone reading this, I am just trying to respond to the remaining posts that haven’t been responded by me in order to keep this topic alive.)

it was approved by the senate and houseof representatives…its up to the president now :sob:

Hopefully, he signs this and there is way better protections for young users.

nah ima just change my acc age  i dont want freaking parental controls :sob:

Roblox will ideally require ID verification to change your account age to bypass legally required security.

aw dang it now i cant get around it :c time to beg my dad to not use the parental controls! or pay him to not :smiling_imp:

Really? This is terrible. I swear if Donald Trump approves it, imma lose it.

Why would you want him to sign it? Do you really want the algorithm to be recommending you random stuff instead of the stuff you watch?

Welp, thats unfortunate.

Lol. But for real with ID verification requirement, you cannot get around parental controls.

I do in fact want minors not to have their information collected so that they can be fed addictive and exploitive games.
