Copy parts between places without changing their positions

Is there a way to copy sets of parts or models from one place to another without changing their positions?

I frequently have to copy a bunch of terrain details (trees, bushes, rocks, etc.) between places in the exact same locations. Studio automatically pastes everything in the direction I’m looking and moves it up to avoid collisions. It’s tedious to move the pasted parts back to their intended offset precisely. The two places are also distinctly different, so simply saving over the place is not an option. Perhaps there is a plugin that can do this?

I’m pretty sure selecting the “Paste Into” option should do what you’re looking for, but I’m not 100% sure.

Duplicate them or do Ctrl+D

Duplicating doesn’t change the position of whatever you’re trying to duplicate. But copy and pasting does.

And if you’re talking about copying and pasting a model into another place.

  • Copy and paste your model to the place you want to paste it on
  • Copy the value of the model’s position from Place1 and paste it to the value of the model’s position from Place2

I do this all the time, assuming you’re talking about copying between two open studio sessions:

  1. Ctrl + C on selected Parts / Models.

  2. Right click and “Paste Into” a data model of your choosing. (i.e. Lighting, ServerStorage,…)

  3. Drag to Workspace. (If there are a lot of instances inside Workspace, close the container first.)

Good luck.

Perfect solution!

I’m accepting this as the answer because is also works for multiple ungrouped parts or models.
