CoreGUI in Explorer: Haiku

Cold October winds
bring changes in Explorer.
First open Settings.

Select “Studio”
and see! There, under “Advanced”
An autumnal treat

It’s "Show Core GUI
In Explorer while Playing"!
Why such a long name?

When this is on you
will see the Core GUI in
Explorer. Good cheer!

But careful bro-bro!
As the name implies it will
only show something

when you are playing
not when you are editing.
“Why is this?”, you ask.

You might as well ask
why the brown chipmunk gathers
nuts in his round cheeks.

??:chipmunk:??

Also, we want to
make sure you don’t think you can
edit CoreGUI.

Thanks!

“Shows when you are playing – not when you are editing”
I’m not sure I understand the chipmunk analogy. The answer to that is “so he can save them for later”. Am I right in interpreting that as “We’re saving showing the CoreGui in Edit mode for a future update”?

Edit: Also, I think it’d be good to clarify that we can edit the CoreGui to change its appearance, see what we select, etc (otherwise the feature would only be half as useful) – it’s just that our changes don’t save to be displayed in online mode, which is perfectly reasonable.

This makes my job very slightly easier (no longer need to change a line of explorer code and remember not to ship it.) For that, I extend much thanks.

Feel free to Edit CoreGUI while you are playing, yes. Have at it.

Just What You See Is What You Get: when playing is over, CoreGUI goes back to being what it was: your changes do not persist, are not part of your game, etc.

GUI has three syllables because it’s spelled out, not pronounce gooey.

That’s… not… what… I was hinting at but ok.

In my opinion, its current placement in the Explorer (below Players) is a bit… odd. Maybe below StarterGui?

So if we can edit it while a game is running, this also means we can delete the hamburger button, which previously was locked. (Tried in Play Solo)

Hmmmm

Only in play solo, so I’m not sure what the point would be. As mentioned earlier, your changes won’t save (which is perfectly reasonable)

Oh, for some reason I thought it was editable with code while you are in a server. (While playing part confused me)

Tell that to all the IT people who say gooey. It’s faster and more efficient to pronounce it that way.
