Covering up the horizon in a forest

Hi, I am making a small forest for my game. I’ve placed some trees to make a thick “wall” between the inside and outside of the map. it acts like a border, i think it looks good.

The problem I’m having is that the bottom of the trees let though too much of the empty outside.
I want this forest to seem dense and filled without having to place too many trees because that would couse a lot of lag.

I’ve added some fog to make it less aparent that there is nothing on the other side, but it is still very noticable.
Does anyone know what i could do to fill these gaps?

What i would recommend doing is:

  • Step 1
    Taking a picture of 3 tree’s togheter
  • Step 2
Opening any program like Photoshop or Paint or anything you use.
  • Step 3
Remove the Backround of the image you took.
  • Step 4
Adding a Texture into Studio and making it a loop like this:

That’s what i would recommend doing, its very easy.
You just add a part and Texture and its done.

Great idea, but I don’t think it works for my situation.

My trees have only a log at the bottom, this still leaves some gaps.
I tried placing more of these textures to fill in those gaps, but that just makes it look like some sort of weird wooden barrier.
Thanks for the help though!

You may try using a forest skybox

I found a solution!

I increased the fog a bit and added large solid walls prevent you from seeing the skybox.
Now i looks like a big forest.
Thanks for you help!

I’d also like to suggest the addition of terrain elevation to cover the horizon up. It works well when used correctly.
