Creating a new game

Heyo,

I’m thinking of creating a new game, unsure of what it’ll be yet, but I’d like to have a few members from here on my team.
I’m a builder, and I’m thinking of having two more builders, three scripters, and a single GFX artist.

If any of you would like to help with this project, please feel free to add me on discord, and we can chat!
My discord is Vinexy#3368

Thanks!

Hey, I’m a scripter, but I’d love for you to post some of your work so I can consider adding ya.

Sure, hit me up on discord and I’ll be more than happy to send you some!

Added you. My Discord is Logan#4191.

why are you estimating a 7 man team (which is extremely large on roblox) for a project that you haven’t even thought a concept up of yet

FYI we have a Collaboration category on this forum (#development-discussion:collaboration). You can change the category of your post by hitting the pencil icon next to the title (don’t have to repost, can just move it). Moving your post there might make it easier for people to find your post when they are looking to collaborate!

Thanks!

You’re looking for 6 more team members without an inkling of a game concept, much less plans, and absolutely no portfolio? I’m not trying to be condescending, but I think you should think this through a bit more.

Possibly this is a little bit of a far cry, but it seems to be working out for the original poster. I think due to the sudden recent increase in DevForum members, there are a lot of eager new faces looking to work on something.

I’d say a concept is mandatory before starting a game, any ideas?

I was going for a first person horror game type of thing, where gamepasses can enhance what you can physically do inside of the game. If you’ve heard of the SCP Genre, you probably know of SCP: Containment Breach, which is a game, I’d like to recreate that in ROBLOX, except more advanced.

So your base concept includes monetization?

Aye, if this turns out to be a success, I’d split profits evenly between everyone involved.

im just saying I wouldn’t start conceptualizing with monetization as a main focus unless you’re aiming to work for EA

I understand where you’re coming from; I’d just like people to know that they will be paid for their work, if the game manages to turn out a success, I can’t pay people currently, I’ve no sufficient robux to pay, but it’d be a team effort that would pay off in the end, hopefully.

So back to the concept.
Up untill you mentioned SCP, I was convinced you wanted to recreate PREY in roblox, which sounds like one hell of a concept, however I feel like you have a different idea.

I’m not sure “PREY” is, but that may be a good path to go down.

It’s a fairly new game, I’d look into it as it was a great experience.

this is a bit off topic but this is one of the silliest things i’ve ever heard. i agree this man should establish a gameplay loop before many other things, but there’s a reason why in almost every single Game Design Document out there a monetization plan is, in detail, planned out. it was even talked about in the game design 101 talk from this year’s RDC.

Damn, 7 people!!

Sort out your %s before you start and don’t go for equal splits between all members, that won’t work out.

I would lower how many people you take on to be honest, co-ordinating 7 people is pretty hard, and you’re all probably gonna be newbies. I’d start with you and a scripter tbh lol
