Hi all, I need to make planets out of tirrain the size of planets (like in Exploring the Solar System 2), but PartToTerrain can’t handle a large sphere. What are some other techniques to easily create a terrain sphere of huge size?
I would highly recommend making a mesh for your planets and texturing them, terrain of that scale is not performance friendly and is pretty limited.
if you dont mind me asking, why does it have to be terrain?
Because something terrain looks more realistic. I found a solution through a plugin, part of any size turns into terrain.

And here is a working plugin MeshToTerrain to make very large Terrain objects, only the generation itself takes a long time, because of the huge number of polygons.

Yes, it does look better but the lag would be terrible. It would be easier to just slap a PBR texture onto a bumpy sphere and call it a day imo.
Depends on the size of the whole map, I’ll check both options. Of course, if the terrain option slows down a lot, I’ll have to switch to MeshPart, but then how does it work without much slowdown in Exploring the Solar System 2?
