What are some creative ways that you encourage players to Like your game. My game was recently plagued with a Roblox bug that causes long join delays and probably earned me quite a few dislikes at no fault of my own. I don’t like the spammy sort of way’s I’ve seen some games begging for Likes and was wondering if there is any effective way that is more dignified. I probably won’t employ any sort of tactic, but I am curious how some of you may have tackled this issue.
You can encourage users in the game, as a practice made by some game designers. They might not be “in your face” but it exists subtly somewhere. Too bad this practice doesn’t work for story-driven games, therefore you can apply it on the game description.
You could do “If we get _ likes we’ll _!”
That is the spammy type of practice that I would avoid using. But, thanks for the suggestion.
It’s not spammy or anything, if executed correctly.
When making this, instead of saying “iF we GeT 50K LIkes, we wiLl make tHIs sEction playable”. No, instead just offer incentives like a cash boost, some currency, something less big, and don’t just blow it up in the player’s face. Just have subtle references, and it is much less “spammy”.
Yeah, I guess the way a lot of games do it though, it seems like a threat of withholding updates or an empty promise. If I did something like that I’d probably try the angle of ‘Don’t for get to Like the game if you do, It will help other players find the game.’ But that sounds kinda lame and I’m not sure where you’d put such a message.
Probably loading screens, the description, or (if your game is match/round based) possibly at the end of rounds, just at the bottom of the screen, noticeable, but not up in the player’s face.
Good ideas. I might avoid loading screens to avoid reminding ‘water testers’ of the dislike button. I like the Description idea, chances are if someone is reading that they are a fan or potential fan. My game isn’t round based but if it were I would want to be careful about recurring round based reminders. In that case I might set up a timer to show the message after some rounds were played(they must be enjoying the game if they’re still here) and also make a table of who was shown the message and not show to them over and over.(don’t punish your loyal players by spamming them).
Just make a good game and people will like it.
It;s not really spammy, more like reptitive. A good example of a game that uses the method is Shindo Life. They give out codes every 30k likes or so, and it’s works pretty well for them. It’s fairly simple and easy method to incorporate that will get you tons of likes.
Perfect. If they are playing for a long time, then this is for the best, as they probably have/will like the game.
