Creator AMA (2024 Recap) with Nick and Greg [January 30, 2025]

We’ll do this differently, as this post was in reference to our upcoming asset privacy beta launch, which is coming in the next few months.

The launch for decals, images and meshes will not be rolled out automatically for previously uploaded assets, as we did for audio. When a creator opts into the beta, they’ll have the option of enabling privacy for newly uploaded decals, images, and meshes - they’ll be in control.

There’s also a bunch of improvements to reduce friction and improve collaboration workflows using “restricted” (private) assets, including audio. That includes “restricted” assets that are used in Models, Packages or Mesh Parts. Restricted asset capabilities and controls will be consistent across Audio and other assets.

Stay tuned for the beta!

Thanks for the question!

We’re aware of some of the challenges being experienced around promoting or advertising marketplace items. This is something we’re thinking a lot about, but at this stage we don’t have committed to the roadmap.

We hope to have more to share in the near future.

To promote the safest and most civil community in the world it’s important for us to continuously earn the trust of our users (and their parents). We are always working on improving how moderation works: like speed and effectiveness.

This safety work is never finished, and to give you a sense of how we’ve approached things recently:
Many of our safety features and tools are automated with AI/ML that work alongside an expert team of thousands who are dedicated to safety. It’s powerful to blend experienced humans and intelligent automation to scale the volume of content we moderate 24/7.
Every year, hundreds of billions of pieces of content are generated and uploaded to Roblox. We have an annual Transparency Report, and we know that only 0.0063% of total content was flagged as violating our policies around issues such as bullying, hate speech and violent extremism via our detection and reporting systems.
For parents, we also recently announced our major updates to parental controls which allow parents the ability to manage their child’s account from anywhere, give them more control over who their kids can interact with, screen time management, content labels and maturity levels that give parents more insight and more.

For creators, we are actively looking at our iteration workflows, and thinking through how to make it easier for creators to iterate on their early content while still meeting our safety goals. I’m hoping we can share more on this soon.

All of this means millions of people are having a positive experience on Roblox. Which we all benefit from!
