Welcome to the first Creator AMA summary of 2025! I hope everyone is ready for a new year of Roblox development! This summary will have a new section called “Asked & Unanswered,” which will include some of the most-liked unanswered questions (which will obviously only be valid as of when I collect those posts). I’ve also reordered things so that the summary is first, considering that the “Asked & Answered” section tends to go into the replies anyway. Just like last time, this post automatically collected everything you’ll see before, so I apologize if there are any issues or missing content. Lastly, any AI-labeled section may not be accurate and should be taken as unreliable information.
Summary of New and Potential Features from the AMA
Features Currently Being Worked On:
Accessory Adjustment Expansion – Adding accessory scaling and placement to neck, shoulders, front, and back.
UI Styling System – A new UI styling system is set to release before mid-year, with UI Blur capabilities expected later this year.
Experience-Level Avatar Scaling – A new Avatar Settings tool will allow creators to control minimum and maximum avatar scaling in their experiences.
Experience Chat for Consoles – Gradual rollout of TextChatService-based chat for consoles is planned in the coming weeks.
Server Authority for Anti-Cheat – An opt-in system is being developed to combat movement exploits like speed hacks.
New Unified Script Type – A script type to unify client and server scripts with prediction/reconciliation support is being explored.
Animation Editor Improvements – Major animation workflow improvements, including an Animation Compositor for better animation layering.
Granular Experience Permissions – Upcoming permissions system will allow edit access without publish rights and view-only analytics access.
Discreet Permissions for Ban Tools – By mid-2025, experience owners will be able to grant specific users moderator access to the ban tool.
Improved UGC Moderation & Accountability – Enhanced moderation systems will hold groups and group owners accountable for DMCA and other infractions.
Asset Privacy & Permissions Expansion – New privacy options for decals, images, and meshes launching in beta soon.
Roblox Studio Mobile Creation – A mobile-friendly creation tool is in development, separate from full Roblox Studio.
E-Commerce on Roblox – Physical merchandise sales are being tested with Shopify integration; broader rollout expected in the coming months.
Roblox Studio Redesign & Stylesheets – Next-gen Studio UI and Stylesheets are set to fully launch in a few months.
Alt Account Detection for Exploiters – Improved alt detection will integrate with exploit actions.
Brazilian Servers – Roblox is working on regional servers for Brazil but has no launch date yet.
Features Under Consideration / Exploration:
Tool Interaction Property – Devs might get a property to control whether equipped tools interact with objects (e.g., ClickDetectors).
Custom Tampering Events in Hyperion – Allowing developers to respond to exploit detection signals.
mTLS for HTTPService – Still being explored as a potential feature.
Physics Scripts for More Control – Internal discussions about higher frame rate physics scripts for custom physics.
Creating Custom Object Types – Not a priority, but feedback is being collected.
Dynamic vs Static Faces – Exploring letting users choose between static or dynamic faces.
EditableMeshes for Avatar Customization – Permissions rework could allow applying real-time effects on avatar meshes.
WebSockets Support – Not currently planned but being explored for future development.
2D Engine Features – Tilemaps, sprite support, and parallax scrolling are being reconsidered as Roblox expands its content capabilities.
Paid Access Flexibility – Considering allowing both Robux and local currency options along with free trials and lower price tiers.
Better Marketplace Sponsorship Tools – Acknowledged as a problem but not yet on the roadmap.
Expanded Server Authority Controls – Rollback netcode and physics stepping adjustments are being considered.
Improved Roblox Recommendations – Internally evaluating how the discovery algorithm ranks experiences.
Deferred or On-Hold Features (Not on the Roadmap but Open to Feedback):
Shader Engine for Developers – Not planned but remains a high community request.
EditableImage on Third-Party Decals – Being reevaluated, with more control for asset creators expected.
Node-Based / Block-Based Coding – Roblox is open to feedback but focusing on making Luau easier rather than a full visual coding system.
New Post-Processing Effects – No plans for effects like dithering, posterization, or chromatic aberration this year.
Rendering Objects in Separate Layers – Not planned but noted as an interesting feature.
Dedicated 2D Engine with Tilemap Support – Not currently planned but being reevaluated.
Key Takeaways:
Many highly requested features are actively being developed (e.g., UI updates, server security, avatar customization, animation improvements).
Security and moderation improvements are a big focus, particularly alt detection, server authority, and UGC accountability.
Feature flexibility is improving, such as paid access in multiple currencies, better permissions systems, and granular avatar scaling.
Several potential features are under discussion, but community feedback is still shaping their development (e.g., Hyperion exploit detection signals, custom object types, and EditableImage API changes).
The “Asked & Unanswered” section is running late due to technical issues. I’ll post it if I can get it working, but otherwise it may be canceled for this time.
