Indeed. Premium payouts were WAY more generous for us small game owners. This indeed just encourages us to make mainstream games that we don’t want to but only do it for the robux. That’ll eventually make greedy devs desesperately try to keep their players in their cash cow as long as possible(well atleast 10 min) which’ll ruin the QoL experience.
This is really bad news for somebody who doesn’t own games with more than 50k active players. I make showcase-like games that can’t beneficiate from this. This feels really unfair for all of the smaller games made with care and passion. Some stunning showcase games won’t be able to have an income anymore.
Why? Because it is very unlikely that some random player who 1-has spent atleast $9.99 on the platform IN THE LATEST 60 DAYS(that can exclude most minors considering that it isn’t even robux, but actual cash) and 2-who joined less than 3 games on the day, would join our game and give us that 5 robux “reward”.
Only the biggest games can beneficiate. Nobody else.
This system, based on the information provided in their introductory posts, will actually guarantee far less money than the premium payouts system that preceeded it, since the payout per user is less, and there are far more criteria. There’s also a 60 day delay on the money.
This is an example of the criteria for a payout, as made by knightmb1 on the original thread. It’s extremely conditional on many things, and instead of the basically infinite payout possible from premium users, it’s limited to 5 Robux. AND, the lowest tier of premium doesn’t technically apply as a payer, as they need to spend a minimum of $9.99 USD.
They will probably end up saying “Over the years, premium has been the building blocks for our creators to earn a living, today we are excited to announce the removal of Premium and introduce our newest system, Roblox+/RobloxPro”. I could see them replacing premium in the future.
Do you want us adults to be spending money on the platform, or the kids who have no money and beg their parents? This creator rewards system just doomed the entire Roblox platform & economically in the long term. Minus, well, rename it to Creator Scraps instead of Creator Rewards. This is one big slop update you pushed out without thinking. Watch the stock market crash, and sponsors, and brands, and developers crash and burn, then Roblox itself will soon follow with this new unregulated payout system you just rolled out. You essentially gut-punched your entire Platform motto of “Power Imagination & Creativity”. Now you are “Powering Greed-Slop & Sheep-AI-Machine”.
God help us on this awful update, and that they reverse this horrible update, which we all know will take a literal act of god to overturn it.
Good luck everyone, survive this wave of disaster Roblox updates, stay strong until Roblox falls on itself flat like it always has each update.
60 days hold before release - and that’s only for the engagement periods. For the reactivation one, that 60 day wait is a hiatus period where they can revoke the money before it gets paid out if your game or the user stops meeting the requirements for the payouts.
Indeed. This really feels like an honour system. Like as a player you’d select wisely 3 games that you want to support and nothing more.
Encouraging profitable games over a carefully-made showcase-type game is just really sad.
Say there are 4 experiences (the user spends money in each one of them up front), A B C D, that a player joins in a day. They spend this much play time in each experience in the following order:
30 seconds in X
1 minute in A
14 minutes in B
3 minutes in C
2 minutes in D
10 minutes in A
10 minutes in D
10 minutes in C
Who gets the payout?
Is it A B because they were the first ones joined? And X didn’t get enough playtime?
Is it A B C because, of the ones which met the target, they were joined first?
Is it B A D because they were the first ones that met the target in that order?
Is it B C D because they are the ones which have the top 3 collective play time?
