Creator Rewards is Live

Hi Creators,

We’re excited to announce that, starting today, Creator Rewards is now live. While Roblox has long supported monetization through products like developer products, passes, and subscriptions, Creator Rewards lets creators earn directly from Roblox for the engagement their experiences bring to the platform. All experiences on Roblox that meet our Community Standards/Terms are eligible to earn rewards beginning today.

As our platform grows, we want to make more investments in the creators who are powering that growth. Creator Rewards represents an increased investment in the creator community at large - we expect that more money will be paid out and based on year to date data, 2x as many experiences will earn 5 Robux or more compared to Engagement Based Payouts. In addition to Creator Rewards, we will have more new investments to share with the community soon.

How to Earn

Creators are eligible for two types of rewards - Daily Engagement Rewards and Audience Expansion Rewards.

The goal of the Daily Engagement Rewards program is to pay creators that produce enjoyable, replayable gameplay loops. At launch, Roblox will pay creators 5 Robux when an Active Spender spends at least 10 minutes inside their experience throughout a day, provided it’s one of the first three experiences they launch that day. You can learn more about how Daily Engagement Rewards are calculated here.

Audience Expansion Rewards will reward creators who help grow the Roblox ecosystem with 35% revenue share on the first $100 in Robux purchases made by new or returning users (inactive for at least 60 days) during their first two months on the platform. Credit will be applied automatically when a user visits your experience either through your links to the experience details page, or when they search for the experience by name on Roblox, and they play for 10 minutes or more. You can learn more about Audience Expansion Rewards and specific terms here.

Tracking Rewards

Daily Engagement and Audience Expansion Rewards can be tracked in Creator Hub beginning on July 25th. You can learn more about tracking and analytics here. In coming months, we will be adding even more transparency to reporting, including cohort-based views, and filtering by user segments.

Rewards started tracking today at 12:00am UTC, and Creators will be able to measure their first day of Rewards in Creator Hub as early as tomorrow. The first Rewards will be paid out beginning on September 24th, in 60 days. We need to include this 60 day holding period to give time for credit cards and financial institutions to validate that Robux purchases by Active Spenders are valid. This helps us uphold the integrity of the program and will ensure we can continue offering Rewards into the future. Earnings reports from Engagement Based Payouts will be visible in Creator Hub until August 25th.

Looking Ahead

As we shared in June, this is just the beginning for Creator Rewards. We seek to reward creators of all sizes and genres for the engagement they drive on the platform, while complementing our existing monetization tools like in-experience purchases and subscriptions. We look forward to sharing more updates as the program evolves.

Thank you!

This is actually great. Roblox? Giving people money? It must be a cold day in hell.

Edit: It’s not. I thought this was alongside premium payouts, but apparently they’re removing those in favor of this. It is indeed still a hot day in hell.

I still do not believe it’s fair for you to pass the 60-day problem posed by financial institutions onto developers, especially smaller ones. It also removes any incentive for Roblox to reduce this time by proactively negotiating with their payment partners.

there better not be a 2 month revenue gap…

Rip Premium/Engagement Based Payouts, you served us well

What’s the point of encouraging players to buy Premium now, or offering Premium rewards?

When can we expect to see the first datapoint come in? Midnight UTC?

Wish you would have exposed early information on how our earnings will change. Having to go into this blind feels disrespectful.

Daily quests galore, I guess :happy3:

Have you not been tracking this for weeks if not months? We should be going into this knowing approximately what we’re earning on day 1. This program was announced a month ago and we still don’t know how our income will be impacted

R.I.P. all the small developer out there. This update now cuts their revenue by a lot. My group game no longer stands a chances at getting revenue. To try and compete with big games like Grow a Garden, steal a brain rot, etc. for 5 robux a day, it point less. The update while sorta good for content creators, kills most small devs chances for success. Unless a developer is gonna spend time to push games that have no depth, and quick trend games, they will most likely fail.

This update basically promotes quick trend games, and I would not be surprised if the front page gets filled with more copies of trend games.

How so if it is limited to the first 3 games that get 10+ minutes? for example 8 year old Timmy with premium could play his top 3 fav games and give the devs 5 robux per day, in comparison to old system that Timmy could try new games, and give each developer some robux. for having premium. This system feels and seems like it does more harm than good.

Imo this update is pure slop
ur ruining the developers who dont have a gameplay loop similar to grow a garden
not much i can say but one of my friends have a game that wouldn’t thrive off of this.
you gotta jump through a bunch of hoops just for 5 whole robux!!
Mind you, for you to actually earn something, you gotta get 6,000 people to do those VERY specific rules!
If you’re not a big developer that’s trying to shove in-game purchases down everyone’s throats, you’re not gonna make it on the platform.
Whatever happened to “Powering Imagination”?

People with ACTUAL heart and soul, cough cough IMAGINATION, won’t benefit from this. You’re literally going against your own motto here.
Creator Rewards. Rewards for convincing kids to gamble, convincing kids to waste money on things that aren’t beneficial to them. Really?
You’re really going to be rewarding people for TRYING to get kids to waste their money?
You’re not Powering Imagination anymore. You’re Powering Greed. You’re Powering Reckless-Spending. Where’s the roblox back then? Where did it go? Because it certainly isn’t here anymore.

I guess this is what has to be done.

Honestly man, if i had the coding expertise, i’d make my own platform like roblox. A roblox WITHOUT all these useless updates that nobody likes. A platform that ACTUALLY STICKS TO ITS CORE VALUES???

Afk games will be non-existent with this update.

Okay but seriously, in your last post you said that basically only the first 3 experiences people launched would really benefit from this system, so this is really buns for anyone not in a popular genre. Because most players are probably gonna launch their favorite games as their first 3, so if they then later check out other games, those new games won’t be paid that well.

Premium has lost basically every feature, I wonder if it’ll be removed soon.

Looks like Roblox per rota has ignored all player feedback once again….

(35% share to devs is awful)
