Creator Roadmap 2025: Spring Update

I am excited for the Asset Manager. Will we be able to transfer asset ownership, preferably in bulk? I have been wanting to transfer ownership of my game from my account to a group, but the reason I haven’t been able to do it is because all of the animation assets would break.

UI stylesheets would be so so so so SO good. Also the range limit on lights going up?? Could be huuuuge!!

While I am really happy we are getting an increased range for lights, I am still rather disappointed that it only got increased by another 60 studs. With something as highly requested as increased light ranges, I feel more should have been put into making it larger.

However, it could also be that this is just the opening part, and as the new lighting system develops, larger ranges could come.

With how relatively limited we are in UI customization, I am really looking forward to this feature. However, with Roblox being Roblox, this feature will probably be underwhelming and not as big as it may have seemed, and it could be a huge disappointment. I really want these features to be great, but I can’t say I’ll be surprised if it’s a total letdown.

This just sounds confusing. I have nothing else to say about this.

I would really hope that this turns out fantastic but Roblox is Roblox

Also, I, alongside many others, would like an update on the Clouds Phases 2 and 3 release that was announced years ago.

Maybe a skybox update too? Because they have been the same since… like… forever…

As mentioned earlier, I would really love it if the new features were amazing, but overall it seems what has been revealed, particularly the light ranges, is really disappointing for how long we’ve been waiting and asking for these features.

I hope so, this would be MASSIVE for stopping cheaters for games

can any one explain what does this mean? I didn’t understand it is it for game UI or studio UI

I’m very excited for the group/community forums! This will greatly help my community and its monthly competition events. Woo!

any news on textchatservice improvements?

our experience heavily depends on cross-server chat functionalities. without these functionalities, a large chunk of our experience will disappear. we desperately need textchatservice channels to support users that are not in the current server, or have a workaround that allows us to program something in ourselves.

i can accept that we may not get this by april 30, but nothing related is mentioned on the roadmap once

Are you sure we can say “all year” yet? It is only April.

Do you know where I can find this information? I’ve been looking for it for a while and I can’t find it.

I believe some lighting types (maybe voxel) have difficulties over that range.

Opening with Server Authority is promising. I hope it doesn’t get perpetually delayed

Sir, this is a Wendy’s.

This thread is “here’s an update on what we’re working on right now” not “rant about your personal grievances with the platform.” There are times and places to do that where your feedback will actually be heard. This is not one of those places. You are wasting your time and breath.

All year, as in the first four months.

Anything for acoustic simulation? It’s on the roadmap for early 2025 and we’re nearing the 2nd third (middle) of the year, and there hasn’t been any mention or a beta thus far.

Hi there.

Regarding Server Authority, will this be something that will be compatible with pre-existing games, or is it something that developers will need to adapt their games too?

Is this just going to be like the current “Return to Experience” button found in the esc menu after you go through an Immersive Ad portal? And will this be optional?

See, here’s the issue.

The older FIB prototypes used a EXCLUSIVE per-pixel lighting rendering. Now the current future lighting uses a hybrid approach. The issue isn’t that futures per pixel lighting cant “handle” it. The problem comes from the fact that Voxel lighting with such huge lighting ranges will come with a MASSIVE memory impact.

Basically current future lighting still has voxel lighting running underneath. If future lighting was entirely per-pixel lighting based it wouldn’t be a problem as far as I know.

Please correct me though if this isn’t the entire reason as to why its like that.

I’d honestly love to see these restrictions removed. I understand the idea that everything should be able to run on all devices with no issues, all without having to think about it that much. But what I’d rather see are tools to help developers see where these performance drops are. I believe that developers should be able to go beyond the default limits and risk their experience being less performant. There could be a popup warning that alerts when you go above default settings.

My point being that, if a developer has the experience to optimize an experience beyond the default limitations—especially if tools are added to help refine that, then there isn’t a reason to restrict what developers can do.

really cool but I’m sad at all of the ai slop you guys are promoting, it might appeal to stockholders but I don’t think this is going to be good for the longevity of your platform
