Critical Installer Error

Upon trying to join a game, I get a critical installer error. (See image) Every post I’ve seen about it on the devforum so far was a closed bug report. I do not know why this would have happend, as it worked yesterday.

I have tried restarting my pc & ending roblox via task manager.

Also, some of the other posts have links. I was able to access https://clientsettingscdn.roblox.com/v2/settings/application/PCClientBootstrapper
(which doesnt look like my link)
But wasn’t able to access
https://clientsettingscdn.roblox.com/v2/client-version/WindowsPlayer/channel/zbeta
(which looks more like my link)

I have although found out that the link that the Installer is trying to access is:
https://clientsettingscdn.roblox.com/v2/client-version/WindowsPlayer/channel/zfrmdrawmoderatetarget30to60fpsstep4aug25

Personally, I haven’t encountered this error myself, however I always recommend fully reinstalling Roblox Studio, and Roblox Player, this has resolved many issues in the past for me. Also to clarify by fully I’m using a app that deletes leftover program files. (However please note that this would delete all saved settings etc..)

Edit:

I have attached a yt video, for how to fully uninstall roblox. (In a second I will reply to you below.)

I’ve just done some further investigation, it seems more that I just can’t access a website.

Log file states the following
failed Http GET url: https://clientsettingscdn.roblox.com/v2/client-version/WindowsPlayer/channel/zfrmdrawmoderatetarget30to60fpsstep4aug25, code: 0, message: HTTP 401 (Unauthorized), body: {“errors”:[{“code”:5,“message”:“Not authorized to perform this action.”}]}

Although it says reporting installer success a few lines under, so I don’t really know.

Down below I have attached a devforum post, with a some people who have gotten the same issue.

Although my suggestion still remains, is to try to fully delete the temp files, and local files of roblox.

Alright, thank you. I’ll still wait for a second opinion, just in case.

Alright, if you wouldn’t mind could you inform me if you fix this issue? Just so that other people who encounter this issue would find a solution.

Pretty sure its A/B testing, can’t even opt out of it, great. Gonna file a bug report in a bit.

have you tried switching update channel?

How would I go about doing that?

try relaunching in web, it might get a new A/B channel or just ZLive

I’ve constantly tried it in web.

maybe try deleting roblox token in appdata (because the web says one thing, the client says another thing)

im more interested in how i’d do this

im interested in how i would do this

It randomly fixed itself for me today, not sure how or why but it did.

Perhaps it was occurring because of your internet provider, or some other unknown issue. Since there were cases of radiational waves or sum causing random issues that just fix themselves, but I’m happy that its fixed!
