This document sets out clearly the in-game rules for Croydon London Bus Simulator.
Rules
- Follow all Roblox Terms of Use: This includes no exploiting, no account sharing, no harassment or discrimination etc.
- Follow the Simulation Server Rules if you are using simulation servers.
- No false reports: Do not falsely report data loss in an attempt to get free items or points, or attempt any other kind of fraud. Do not falsely report users in an attempt to get them banned unjustly, or provide us with any kind of false information.
- Display good faith & character both in-game and off the game: users who leak assets or disrupt the community should expect to be banned!
- No cheating: Play the game as intended. Do not attempt to use any glitches. If you discover a glitch (e.g. item duplication), you must report it immediately in clear detail. Do not use automation or bots to play the game.
- Do not attempt to bypass any Moderation Action, e.g. through alts.
- Croydon Companies content must be age-appropriate, not spam, and must follow the Custom Company Branding policy.
- The game contains several non-chat user-supplied text. Examples include company names, company announcements, and custom blinds.
- DO NOT use these features to advertise any discord server or any other off-site platforms.
- DO NOT attempt to use these features as a chat.
- DO NOT use these features to communicate with players outside of the age groups that you can chat with.
- DO NOT supply any inappropriate, personally identifiable or bullying-related content to these features.
- Info: These features have ratelimits, additional custom filters, limits on range of visibility, text length limits and other physical limitations so that they cannot be used as a chat. This is to protect our players.
Competitions & Awards
A new competitive leaderboard challenge for companies appears each week. As per rules 4 and 5, you must not try to artificially boost your place on the leaderboard - this will be considered cheating and will lead to a ban.
The top 15 companies on the leaderboard at the end of each week will receive an award badge to use in bus customisation. This must be claimed by driving for the company in the following week. Please ensure you are playing on an up-to-date server and that the leaderboards have loaded on your end before attempting to claim the award. If the award is not claimed within this one week period, it will be lost forever. You can check if you have received it by customising a bus and selecting the badge option.
Each leaderboard week is numbered 1-52, resetting at the beginning of the year. Note that if you already have an award for a numbered week, you cannot currently win another award for the same week in subsequent years.
Awards are purely cosmetic and have no monetary or functional value.
Moderation Action
Any violation of the above could result in one or more of the following actions:
- Removal of player data, potentially including items you have purchased, Croydon+, and your company.
- Bans from the game & related communities: including fixed-term and permanent.
- Suspensions from simulation servers.
- Enforced Intelligent Speed Assist.
- Temporary in-game actions, such as kicks and despawns.
- Removal of feature access (e.g. custom destination access)
Severe actions, such as bans and data erasure will be conducted by developers, while a small selection of trusted community members called Sim Server Helpers (who must act responsibly or face bans) are able to issue sim server suspensions. These actions may be appealed in our community server. In general, the more severe the rule violation, the more severe the Moderation Action.
Simulation Server Rules
Simulation server users should regularly check the below document and follow the listed rules. Changes will be announced via discord.
Custom Company Branding Policy
Policy effective until 31 March 2026:
- Do not closely imitate a real world company or use externally copyrighted/trademarked names/logos
- Harassment rules apply (for examples no impersonating fictional companies either)
Policy effective after 31 March 2026:
To protect the game from legal risk, we must prevent “passing off” (combining elements to mimic a real-world brand). All companies must pass the following criteria.
Section 1: Musts
-
No Direct or Similar Names: You may not use current or previous real world operator or sub-operator names (e.g., Arriva) or corporate brands (e.g., Tesco).
- This includes phonetically similar names. If a name is visually or audibly confused with a real brand (e.g., “Arrive” instead of “Arriva”, or “Stagecoach” ➔ “Stagecoachs”), it is a violation.
-
Company Representation: Your original branding must be the primary presence for your company. You cannot have your real world liveries be the core of your company.
Section 2: One element of inspiration
Your core company identity consists of three elements. You may take inspiration from one of these from a real-world brand. If you combine two or more from the same brand, your custom company will face action.
-
Company Name: This includes regional names (e.g., Yorkshire) or names that are inspired by a brand but are distinct enough to pass Section 1.
-
Livery Design: The specific shapes, stripes, or “swoosh” layouts used by a real operator.
-
Identity (Brand Colours & Logo): The core colour palette and logo style of a real company.
The Rule: You can have the name OR the colours OR the design. You cannot have two or more.
Example: Naming your company “Yorkshire” is 1 point. If you then use the colours and logo of the real operator in that area, you have hit 2+ points and are in violation.
Section 3: Similar Real World Replica Allowance
You are permitted to create visually similar replicas of real buses, provided:
-
Replicas cannot exceed 20% of your total active fleet. Thus, you need at least four completely originally branded buses active before you can add one replica. Unbranded buses don’t count.
-
Replicas count towards the “One element of inspiration” limit. If your custom company brand already draws inspiration from an element of a real-world brand, then you cannot create a replica bus around that same brand.
-
Example: If your company name is “Wessex Travel,” your replica cannot be a real-world Wessex-based livery, but you’re welcome to replicate classic London liveries. This is so that your company cannot be too similar to a single brand.
Note that using copyrighted, trademarked or patented material without permission is strictly forbidden. However, it should not be possible to do so with the livery editor.
