Csg v3 makes building very difficult

Ball and cylinder^

After unioning them now that you cant disable csg v3, csg v2 worked just fine v3 had tons of errors and bugs like this and I prefer to be able to choose because I can’t seamlessly union ball and cylinders anymore.

adding onto this, i’ve personally continued to use v2 despite v3 being available because of smooth angle working better with v2 parts which is big when making things such as airliner fuselages, v3 is full of errors (-8/-10/-11) of which its not made clear what each of these errors stand for.

I think this is half v3, and half a rotation error as the sphere might have a different orientation. This has happened to me loads of times when making unions and Roblox has never fixed it.

You can go to beta settings and turn off v3, separate the union and re-unite it if you think it’s that unusable though.

I see. Go to studio settings, physics, enable legacy csg. That should either enable v1 or v2, I’m assuming v2 as you now can not use it by turning off beta settings.

It might enable v1, in which case you’ll barely be able to unite anything, but it’s still worth giving a try.

CSG V2 is broken though, it cannot be used at all. It cannot separate unions made with CSG V2 nor can it attempt to solve unions when trying to union. We CANNOT model.

I am extremely upset at Roblox for forcing CSG V3 out when it has not even been fully patched of bugs, and there is no setting to toggle the colour infection crap that prevents me from modelling. AND CSG V2 was broken, somehow, even though it should not have had its code changed at all.

CSG worked perfectly for me. Was it that ‘could not be solved’ glitch? Because in that case you probably had v1 enabled.

if i were to manually make a cylinder it just wont work unless theres a hole through it so more complicated stuff is just worse

That version of CSG doesn’t work well with updated versions of shapes, or anything inside of studio. V3 is your best option until they hopefully add an option to bring back V2.

CSG V2 is presumably meant to be used using the legacy CSG setting, however CSG V2 is completely broken since they moved it out the way for CSG V3, the failure to solve any unions is why we cant use it.

I think ‘legacy’ will always be v1 as it’s still required for specific things that neither v2 nor v3 can achieve.

no. V3 literally replicates what V1 does, CSG V1 IS deprecated. It literally doesn’t exist anymore. Staff have made posts stating such.

Legacy is CSG v1, v3 doesn’t properly replicate v1 because of its different geometry which is more visible when working with aircraft fuselages made with v1 where editing with v3 changes the shape of the parts due to its different geometry, legacy functions the same way as CSG v1, legacy has been a option in studio since CSG v2 was introduced.

The only similarities between the two is that on both v1 and v3, when you make a hole into a union, the hole will be the color of the negative part.

Everything else is better, v3 doesn’t replace cylinders with weird spiral shapes like v1 did, it’s way smoother, unlike v1, it allows more parts in unions, andmore shapes, unlike v1. 99% of the time, v1 would tell you that the union is not solvable. v3 does not do that.

V1 was literally deprecated. It is gone.

I turn Legacy on all the time, it is v1. Deprecated doesn’t mean deleted, it means no more updates, which is also what legacy means. It was never removed, it was just cancelled.

it was deprecated for years, CSG V3 was meant to be released alongside the removal of V1 and staff have literally made posts saying its being removed, however I don’t see why they’d leave V1 in while removing V2 alongside replacing it with V3

Because they just never did remove it. They just stopped updating it, AND they have had the legacy option for years after announcing that they would not let users use v1, there is no point in updating it now.

There’s also instead of focusing on game/website features people beg them to keep, they’re focusing on studio features that they are begged to keep, like v1 for example. (they don’t care about the players that made them what they are, they care about the developers that might eventually do it.)

I have used the ‘legacy’ mode. It is absolutely nothing like v2 or v3. It is definitely v1.
