I am currently in the process of making a game which I have yet to give a name. It is based of another game called Foxhole where there are two opposing teams who fight to win.
The two teams are able to make ground across the map by attempting to push but getting far can take time.
What will the game be like?
Players will also have to mine for different resources in order to fuel the economy for their side, This can be done by taking out a truck and going of to a resource field, mining said resources and taking them back to a factory to be converted in to refined materials and used to create weapons and ammo for the rest of the team to use on the frontline. The objectives for each team is to capture as many “Flags” which are more like key buildings across the map, they must be built by players using resources and defended. When the time for the game runs out (I plan to make game lengths quite long) the team with the most Key Buildings wins and the game restarts. I also plan for the game to have an important building aspect where players can construct structures such as pillboxes which are AI controlled or player controlled if the player wants to take over. Different structures like mortar’s and howitzers are only controlled by players but can significantly help the team. Vehicles will also play an important part, different vehicles from small jeeps to heavy tanks can be unlocked and produced as long as the right materials are available. For players who cannot yet unlock or build a vehicle they want can still ask help from those who can, this means players who are perhaps a higher rank or have more available resources to spend can help other players build something they want.
Identifiable problems
One of the main problems I can see ahead is that players may wish to take part in the fighting rather than simply mining for resources, this could affect how the game runs and could mean it would need a complete revamp or for a backup to be added.
How can players stay entertained?
Well aside from the fun of having a fight with your friends against an opposing team, or perhaps relaxing while finding resources for your side, players will be able to progress along and gain ranks, these can be awarded for Killing enemy players, Capturing Key Objectives, Building important structures up, Mining for resources etc. As players gain ranks they can access more weapons and vehicles. Players will keep there ranks even when a game ends so that they can keep there progress.
