I’m working on an RPG and currently trialing battle mechanics - truthfully I want to edge away from real-time and implement a somewhat turn based / competitive system.
If you’ve played Grandia 2, you’ll know this mechanic - but for those that haven’t:
The bottom right bar indicates the Players / Hostiles in a battle. All characters start on the left of the screen and progress towards the right (Upgrading Speed will determine how quickly the Player reaches the right.)
Once the Player reaches ‘Com’ they will be able to select an action: Attack, Run, Defend, Items etc. From here, the Players icon will progress towards the right again before reaching ‘act’ - Once there, the Players chosen action will take Place and will then repeat until the battle ends.
Bit of a read, but what are your views on this?
