Hello there, I just made a lightsaber model, and I want some feedback on it, it’s easily customizable and right now I am waiting for feedback to begin the scripting process.
Someone has the high ground with their new saber!
As for the blade being thinner than the handle, that is intentional. At the top of the blade, I inset the face to make a hole for the blade, just in case someone, for some reason, would be looking into the blade. I inset it a bit too much I might say, but the parts of the blade are resizeable to I can fix that easily.
Hole for blade:
Thank you for your feedback, and I do think the thicker blade looks better now that I see it compared to the original blade, but that’s whatever you think looks better.
If you are gonna go low poly, I’d recommend reducing the amount of faces to sell that look more.
Also, the reason the model has a lot of shading artifacts (with smooth shading) is because there are sharp angles between your model’s faces. To fix this while still having smooth shading checked, enable Auto Smooth under Normals in the Object Data Properties. What this does is basically only smooth certain parts of your mesh while leaving sharp angles as flat shaded. You can mess with the angle until you get something good.
