Custom Morph not able to hold tools

My custom morph cannot hold tools, Each morph is made up of meshes that are grouped together to make up each limb and each limb is named after a part in the r6 format. The rig is also r6 and was rigged using the “Edit Rig” Plugin. When the player is a morph and they try to equip a tool, it vanishes from their inventory after a second or two. Any help is appreciated a lot!

R6 requires a very specific part naming convention for tools. Specifically, IIRC, they require a “Right Arm” Part (not model), and a “Right Shoulder” Motor6D (named exactly that and at the root of the model). If this tool has a physical handle, it’s probably disappearing because it’s falling out of the world since without this specific character setup, the handle weld fails.

You might be able to get away without changing your characters by using the properties on Tools to disable handles, then doing the handle visualization/welding yourself, but this could be more challenging depending on your skill level.

You could also try welding an invisible Right Arm (under the model root) to your right arm sub-model and seeing if that helps. It’s been a while since I worked with tool handles and R6, I ditched handles a long time ago.

Thank you for the simple but explanatory breakdown! I used the invisible right arm method that you mentioned and it worked. Thanks for the help!
