As a Roblox developer, I would love the option to create custom place templates and open them in-studio through the templates tab.
@Noble_Draconian has created this really professional baseplate template that I would love to use often, but it is currently a hassle as I have to open my file folder and then search through all my downloads to specifically open this template.
As described above, opening a place file from my computer’s file folder is quite a hassle and I’d like to add this place into the list of templates within studio.
Bump, ive have a few template places i use for when i want to start a game, they are all properly setup with modules required properly, folders made, and more. Rather than having to copy a local file being able to just select from new tab would be amazing!
I would actually like to have this myself. That way I can have assets that are ready to go in a new map for my game. The source could be either a file or the asset Id of a published place (marked private of course). As it stands, I have to copy the file, change the name, then open it.
Bump, yes “Revive this topic” because it is still relevant.
Instead of pressing CTRL+N to open a fresh template, I right click on the studio icon instead and open a fresh studio tab. Why? Because I can then select the template that I actually want to go to, the Classic Baseplate.
How much extra time does it take? Plenty. Why not just allow us to create and set our own Templates (along with the one that opens when you press CTRL+N)?
Why do I even post, it’s not like something ever happens anyways. Just more of my two cents on the millions of things that could be a little bit more convenient as a developer for Roblox.
EDIT: Guys I have an idea. Since this will fall on deaf ears (especially my comment), I have no hope on this ever being a thing unless some random day in like 2027 they release it as some random idea that comes to them. So for now, a cool idea is a Plugin that allows you to turn any place you open into the template that you want with the click of it’s button. It’s a mickey mouse method but It could very well work. If I get something of my own made of this, I’ll share a video here.
