Dark spots on imported meshes despite having correct normals

My meshes are supposed to be solid grey. They have no textures applied to them, and yet they have these really dark spots on them.

I’ve looked at several other devforum posts about this issue and none of the solutions I’ve tried have worked.
In blender I reset the normals, generated them again, etc. The normals are the same as in my other models that don’t have this dark shading issue. I tried shrinking the meshes and reuploading them, that didnt help either. I tried shading with auto smooth instead of the regular smooth option in blender, and that didn’t help either. I’m stumped on this issue. Does anybody know a solution?

Those colors seem like they could be caused by vertex colors. Try removing the vertex color attribute from the mesh: (video taken in Blender version 4.2.1)

Alternatively if you don’t want to remove the attribute, you can go to vertex paint, set the paint color to white and press Shift + K (older Blender) / Ctrl + X (newer Blender) to paint the whole mesh white.
