There are some grass plugins that creates image based grasses, probably with beams, and other ones made fully with meshes. Witch one would be better to use considering low cost rendering?
Both could work perfectly fine! If you are looking for perfectly optimal performance though image based grass would be the way to go. Considering the new PBR feature that has been implemented into studio you could get some really amazing results. But keep in mind that the two are very different when it comes to what style and visual appearance you are trying to pull off. In a low poly game for example Image based grass would be much harder to make look good. But if you’re going for more realistic visuals then image based would be better. Of course this is just my opinion and i’d suggest that you experiment and test both things to see which one you prefer!
