Weapon Skins

This update adds in weapon skins as an item type! Similarly to character skins, weapons now have a style attribute that’ll let you change the appearance of weapons that include any. To start, we’ve added in the “Original” style to all stock weapons that use the Roblox models that were in the 2011 version of Defend the Train.

The Dubious Zapper for the Pistol

Lastly, the golden variants of the stock weapons have been added and are now available to anyone with the Valued Contractor gamepass!

New Special Waves

The two new special waves included this update are pretty simple. Fatigue will cause stamina to deplete faster and regenerate slower. Unknown Territory will throw a curveball and hide the next track from players, meaning that players will need to prepare for anything.

New Weapons

AUG
The AUG is a new Gunslinger primary that is a mix of the rifle and sniper weapons. This weapon is an automatic that will allow you to aim through it’s scope similar to the sniper weapon type. In comparison to stock, the AUG comes with a higher bullet speed and faster reload speed, though at the cost of lower damage and a bit more spread when hipfiring.

Pop-N-Heal
The Pop-N-Heal is a plain and simple throwable Medic secondary that essentially functions like a reversal of the Toxic Waste. When thrown at hurt teammates, any caught within the radius will receive a moderate health increase. This weapon serves as a way to heal others when rocking with other primaries that may not be as quick or does not include healing at all.

In the near future, we would like to experiment with other types of support for Medic weapons that are centralized around other buffs rather than plain healing, which this weapon will give us an easier time in doing so.

Progress Report

Now that we’re more than a few months into the Beta, I figured it’d be appropriate to start writing the progress reports again. So what’s next?

I’ve just about finished up with school for this year with everyone else on the team nearing their summer breaks, so we’d like to soon start working on a more large scale update to eventually release late into the summer. To briefly speak more in the present, next update we’d like to put out some more new tracks alongside some more weapons for Medic & Psycho.

Originally we were going to put in the Temple track submission we received a few months ago in this update, though I decided to move it to next update as we still needed to redo some of the enemies on-top of making them actually work.

Moving back to the later portion of the year, this summer we’d like to get some more of our Beta to-do list knocked out, which includes the boss fight for the Forest track and possibly stickers as an item type.

For those out of the loop on our older changelogs, Senior & Junior are a planned father & son boss fight where Senior would take on players in their RV using hunting gear and various other weapons while Junior would come out on a jetpack in the later half of the fight using more unrealistic weaponry to serve as a nuisance.

senior and junior

We’ve had the idea for quite a while now and would like to finally get around to actually making it happen this summer. This would also be a permanent fight just like the Bandit Queen!

For stickers, these would be another cosmetic item that in the most literal terms would be chat bubble images. Stickers would be able to be equipped in a set amount of slots similar to emotes and when activated would display the chosen sticker above your head similar to how it’s seen in plenty of other games.

Stickers themselves would be able to range from silly non-sense to ones that may actually contain a message, though more than likely would all be kept under a single artstyle for consistency.

Till next time!
