NOTES

Apologies for being a little late with the next update, but we’ve been pretty busy working on the campaign update expected for later in August. When we have a date for that, it will be revealed in a teaser trailer. The next normal update for the game may be 3 weeks from now instead of 2, as this week I’m working on an update for Battleboards’ anniversary and after a normal update for RBLXWare.

Enemy Defense

Enemies have been changed to support the defense attribute which was previously only used as a status effect for players. The mechanic works the same in that the player’s damage will be cut when attacking an enemy with defense which is indicated by a transparent gray bar layered over their healthbar.

A portion of defense was given to any vehicle with destroyable parts such as the Toy Tank which will now deplete the vehicle’s defense when destroyed. This change was made to serve as a better incentive to destroy the destructible parts. Other bulky vehicles that were designed to be better suited for Gunslingers such as the Swat Van and the APC were also given defense to better indicate this and to also hinder the vehicles being bruteforced with Psycho without increasing the overall health to a comically large amount.

The Borrowed Technology was also given the extra ability to deplete a vehicle’s defense. It’s not as fast as destroying a vehicle’s special parts, but I figured it’d make sense given that the weapon is meant to shred through vehicles.

Despite there being support for enemy passengers to also be given defense, none in the game were actually given any at this time. Since they lack any destroyable parts like certain vehicles have, there wasn’t really an ideal option for counterplay that was universal across all weapons which would make giving any a level of defense frustrating.

Vehicles in general that were given defense this update shouldn’t feel all too different as I did reduce the max health of many to try and keep their balance the same, but in the future I expect that certain enemies or bosses could make use of this mechanic in a more dynamic way as I see fit.

New Gamemode

New to VIP servers is the Extreme Classic gamemode, an alternate version of Classic that brings in it’s unique features such as unlimited respawns, mid-wave class switches, high enemy damage while retaining any modern features that were added in our version of Defend The Train such as sprinting, weapon unlocks, etc.

Passenger Train Changes

The Passenger train has been given some overdue changes that should make playing on it feel more fair. Stat-wise I thought the train was fine, but the passengers themselves weren’t the easiest thing to work with. The most important change made is that passengers will now attempt to evacuate burning sectors.

Once a sector is set on fire, all of the passengers on it will get up from their seats and walk towards an available seat. They will now only succumb to their fate if there are no seats available for them, which in most cases will only happen late into the game when the train is down to it’s last passenger cart.

Outside of this, a new train upgrade was added that will allow teams to increase the max health of passengers each wave. Enemies will also no longer prefire while arriving if they’re targeting passengers, as I realized this would mostly just result in unfair train damage.
