CLEANINGS
- Hand scale the client’s teeth.
- Use a machine scaler to scale the clients teeth.
- Ask them what flavour of toothpaste they would like, the options are bubblegum, strawberry, mint and banana.
- Gently begin brushing the client’s teeth.
- Rinse and suction the client’s teeth.
- Apply some fluoride treatment to the surface of the client’s teeth.
- Inform the client not to eat for the next hour to prevent the fluoride treatment from falling off the surface of the teeth.
CHECK-UPS
- Ask the client if they have been experiencing any issues with their teeth.
- Ask them if they brush atleast 2 times a day, if they don’t say yes, please inform them that they have to brush 2 times a day.
- Ask the client if they have any inquires before you proceed with the procedure.
- Ask them to open up their mouth so you can inspect the client’s teeth.
- Check their mouth for cavities. (If there is cavities numb the gum surrounding the tooth then drill out the cavity, then use a filling to seal it up).
- Checks the client’s mouth for any plaque and tartar. (If there is plaque and tarter make sure to remove it using the scraping tool.)
- Take an x-ray of the client’s teeth.
SEALANT
- Ask the client if they have any questions before you start the procedure.
- Rinse and suction the client’s teeth.
- Apply etching solution to where the sealant will be placed.
- Use an air nozzle to make sure that the tooth is dry.
- Prepare and then apply the sealant gently.
- Ensure it’s positioned correctly, and also make sure it is in place.
- Treat the sealant with a curing light.
WHITENING
- Ask the client if they have any questions before you start the procedure.
- Place retractors into the client’s mouth gently.
- Apply some protective gel onto the client’s gums.
- Apply some whitening gel onto the surface of the client’s teeth.
- Activate the gel using an activation light.
- Allow the gel to sit before rinsing and suctioning the client’s teeth.
- Remove the protective gel from the client’s gums.
- Inform the client that their teeth may be sensitive for the time being. Tell them also to prevent eating for the next hour to prevent staining’s from happening.
FILLING
- Ask the client if they have any questions before you start the procedure.
- Numb the area where the filling will be taking place.
- Drill out the cavity, make note that all infected and broken parts of the tooth are to be removed.
- Suction the tooth.
- Ask the client if they would like the following fillings; Gold, Ceramic, Silver or a plain filling.
- Apply the chosen filling the client chose.
- Set the filling using a setting light source.
- Make note that the client’s teeth may be sensitive for some time, also know that they need to prevent from eating in the next hour to let the filling sit.
BONDINGS
- Ask the client if they have any questions before proceeding onwards to the next section.
- Colour-match a composite resin to the colour of the client’s teeth/tooth.
- Gently rub off the surfaces of the teeth that are being bonded.
- Apply the resin to the surfaces of the teeth that are being bonded.
- Cure the resin using a curing light source.
- Polish the surfaces of the teeth until the client is happy with the bondings.
CROWN
- Ask them if they have any questions before starting the procedure.
- Numb the gum surrounding the tooth/teeth.
- Isolate the tooth using a am tool.
- Drill the client’s teeth/tooth.
- Rinse and suction the client’s teeth.
- Place the crown gently onto the tooth and then ensure it is nicely positioned.
RETAINERS
- Ask the client if they have any questions before you start the procedure.
- Take some impressions of their teeth.
- Apply plaster onto the impressions, this will create a accurate scale of the teeth.
- Wait for the plaster to set.
- Once it is set, place the plastic over the plaster replica, and wait for the plastic to cooldown.
- Place the retainers into the client’s mouth, ensure that the client can fit it in properly.
RETAINER CHECK-UP
- Ask the client if they have any questions before you proceed onwards to the next section.
- Ask the client if they have been experiencing any issues with their retainers.
- Ask the client to try on their retainers.
- Then, ensure the retainers fit correctly.
- Ensure that the retainers are not damaged, if so repeat the RETAINERS section.
- Ask the client to remove their retainer.
- Clean the retainer afterwards and then hand them back to the client.
DENTURES
- Ask the client if they have any questions before proceeding onwards to the next section.
- Inspect the client’s mouth.
- Take the client to the x-ray room and take impressions of their teeth.
- Colour-match the denture shade to the client’s teeth.
- Secure the dentures in the client’s mouth and ensure they are comfortable for them,
VENEERS
- Ask the client if they have any questions before starting the procedure.
- Colour-match the veneers to the colour of the client’s teeth.
- Gently rub off the surfaces of the enamel on the teeth where the veneers will be taking place.
- The, gently apply the veneers to the surfaces of the client’s teeth.
- Bond the veneers using a bonding light source.
- Finally, polish the surfaces of the client’s teeth.
BRACES
- Ask the client if they have any questions before starting the procedure.
- Take impressions of the client’s teeth using an x-ray.
- Ask the client what colour bands they would like to have, the following colour options are; red, orange, yellow, green, navy, teal, magenta, violet, white, black, silver or clear.
- Then, place retractors into the client’s mouth.
- Rinse and suction the client’s teeth.
- Apply the etching solution to the surfaces of the client’s teeth.
- Suction the solution off the surfaces of the client’s teeth.
- Then, apply a small drop of glue onto each centre of the client’s teeth.
- Apply the brackets, then ensure they are correctly positioned in place.
- Set them into position using a setting light source.
- Retrieve the smallest wire from the nearby desk, then place it through the back brackets.
- Secure the wires with the bands the client desired.
- Cut off the ends of the wire, then ensure the client if there are any sharp parts.
BRACES TIGHTENING
- Ask the client if they have any questions before you start the procedure.
- Ask the client if they’ve been having issues with their braces.
- Ask the client what colour bands they would like to have; red, orange, yellow, green, navy, teal, magenta, violet, white, black, silver or clear.
- Place retractors into the client’s mouth.
- Remove the older bands from the brackets.
- Remove the old wire from the brackets.
- Get a thicker wire and place it gently on the back brackets.
- Secure the wire with the bands the client desired.
- Cut off the ends of the wire, ensure to cut off any sharp bits on the ends.
BRACES CHECK-UP
- Ask the client if they have any questions before you start the procedure.
- Then, ask the client if they have been experiencing any issues with their braces.
- Ask the client if they have any more questions about the braces.
- Ask the client to open their mouth, the inspect and examine their braces.
- Take impressions of their teeth using and x-ray and compare them to their older x-rays.
- Estimate the time when they’re able to get their braces off.
BRACES REMOVAL
- Ask the client if they have any questions before you start the procedure.
- Inspect the client’s teeth.
- Then prepare, loosen and remove the brackets using pliers.
- Remove the glue on each tooth using a polisher or scraper tool.
- Rinse and suction the client’s teeth.
- Take impressions of the client’s teeth.
- Take the client to an x-ray room and take some impressions of the client’s teeth using an x-ray.
SPACERS
- Ask the client if they have any questions before you start the next section.
- Prepare the spacers to place.
- Then, place the spacers in between the molars.
- Make sure the spacers are in the correct position.
EXTRACTION
- Ask the client if they have any questions before you start the procedure.
- Start by rinsing and suctioning the client’s teeth.
- Numb the gum where the teeth/tooth will be extracted.
- Gently poke the gum, ensure that the client cannot feel it.
- Loosen the tooth, before extracting it.
- Place cotton wool into the spaces of where the tooth/teeth was.
- Note the client to rinse their mouth after eating. Also tell them to not eat chewy or hard food as it heals for the next couple of days.
DENTAL IMPLANT
- Ask the client if they have any questions before proceeding onwards to the next section of the appointment.
- Rinse and suction the client’s teeth.
- Put the client to sleep using general anaesthetics.
- Drill a small hole where the implant will be taking place.
- Secure the implant of the client’s teeth/tooth.
- Rinse and suction the client’s teeth/tooth before waking them up.
- Make sure they are happy with the implant(s).
WISDOM TOOTH REMOVAL
- Ask the client if they have any questions before you start the surgery procedure.
- Rinse and suction the client’s teeth.
- Put the client to sleep using general anaesthetics.
- Place retractors into the client’s mouth.
- Then use a dental scalpel to cut open the gums of where the wisdom tooth are.
- Use a spacing tool to loosen up the wisdom tooth.
- Use the scalpel again to disconnect the roots from the wisdom then take the wisdom tooth out.
- Carefully cut the roots into half, then take them out using a scraper tool.
- Then, grab some cotton wool rolls and place them into the empty spaces of where the wisdom tooth were.
- Seal up the gums using Dental Stitches.
- Rinse and suction the client’s teeth before waking them up.
- Give the client a cold, new ice pack to ease the pain.
ROOT CANAL
- Ask the client if they have any questions before you start with the procedure.
- Numb the gum surrounding the teeth.
- Isolate the tooth/teeth using a dam tool.
- Rinse and suction the client’s teeth/tooth.
- Seal off the tooth/teeth using a root canal filling.
