Dependencies of Moderated/Deleted Bundles Not Being Removed

When a catalog item that is part of a bundle gets moderated and deleted, the bundle correctly appears as deleted (removed from the catalog). However, all other body parts (dependencies) of the bundle remain wearable and usable by users who previously owned the bundle. This behavior began occurring a few weeks ago and is likely caused by a recent change in how bundled assets are handled during moderation.

Previously, when one part of a bundle was removed, all dependencies were also deleted, but now only the moderated item is affected, leaving the remaining parts intact. To fix this, Roblox should ensure that when any part of a bundle is deleted, all associated assets are automatically flagged for removal to prevent moderation evasion and inconsistencies in asset handling. This is how the system used to work before this issue began occurring.

Reproduction Steps:

  1. Find a bundle in the Roblox catalog that consists of multiple body parts.
  2. Get a specific part of the bundle (e.g., the right leg, head, torso) moderated and deleted.
  3. Observe that the bundle itself is removed from the catalog.
  4. Check the remaining body parts of the bundle—notice that they are still viewable on the catalog, and wearable by users who previously owned them.

This bug causes various issues, allowing rule-breaking and exploitative content to remain accessible despite the bundle appearing as moderated in the catalog. Since the remaining dependencies are no longer listed in the catalog, they can only be found if worn on someone’s avatar, making it easier for users to bypass moderation while keeping problematic assets in circulation.

Some real examples of this issue, and why change is needed:

  1. Fling Exploit Bundles
There have been multiple instances where exploit bundles with oversized legs have been used to create major fling exploits in games. When one leg of these bundles was reported and removed, the other leg remained available due to this bug. Since the exploit only required a single leg to function, users who had already purchased the bundle could still wear the opposite leg, effectively bypassing the intended moderation. This issue has occurred with multiple exploit bundles, and these remaining legs still need to be moderated, as users continue to actively use them for exploits. A purge of all affected assets, including those not listed below, may be necessary to fully resolve this issue. Right now, one example of an exploitable leg that remains up due to this bug is:

    • Strangest - Left Leg - Roblox (Both legs of this bundle cause game-breaking fling issues, but only the right leg was reported and deleted, leaving this one usable.)
I will update this report as soon as I locate the additional 10-20 other exploit legs that need to be removed.
  2. Invisible Leg Bundles
Some bundles contain legs that are excessively small or completely invisible, which can be problematic for game integrity. If one leg was reported and deleted to demonstrate the issue more clearly, the other leg would remain up due to this bug. This allows users who previously purchased the bundle to continue wearing an invisible leg while simply going without the other, bypassing moderation efforts.

  3. Inappropriate Bundles (Breast Example)
When a torso designed to resemble large breasts was removed from the catalog for violating community guidelines, the rest of the bundle, such as its head, remained accessible. If a bundle is flagged for inappropriate content, all parts of it should be removed to prevent users from wearing leftover pieces. Examples of this issue:

All in all, I believe this change was unintended, but in the slight chance that it was intentional, there are clear and inexcusable reasons to revert it. Thanks.

Thanks for reporting the issue. We removed the exploit bundles along with the problematic body ports assets. The moderation status of one body part will eventually apply to the whole bundle. However, Roblox doesn’t apply a moderation decision from one part of a bundle to another. For example, even if the torso is moderated, the dynamic head asset will be moderated directly.

Thank you for the quick response here. I did notice the abnormally large legs undergo a purge a few hours ago. Was this a direct result of my bug report, or a pre-planned purge?

Also, your response seems to suggest two different things—does moderation on one part of a bundle eventually trigger an automatic removal of all its assets, or does each part require separate moderation? I might be misunderstanding something here, but you seem to be contradicting yourself with these sentences:

“The moderation status of one body part will eventually apply to the whole bundle.”

“However, Roblox doesn’t apply a moderation decision from one part of a bundle to another.”

And lastly, can you possibly provide some insight into why this behavior was changed? As mentioned in the original post, the previous system ensured that when any part of a bundle was deleted, all its dependencies were removed as well. This is similar to how non-bundle catalog assets are handled—if their texture is deleted, the entire item is removed rather than remaining as a blank mesh. I’m not necessarily pushing for a revert, but I’d really appreciate some insight to better understand your perspective on this change.

i skimmed what you wrote and from what i’ve read, this has already been long fixed and i’ve been aware of it for nearly a year, it takes around a week or 2 for the rest of the bundle’s body parts to be deleted aswell

I wish this was the case, but some legs of bundles I had deleted a month or two ago still have not been deleted, so it seems there is an inconsistency here.

Sorry for the confusion. Here is an example - If a dynamic asset (asset id 456) in bundle (bundle id 123) is moderated, that moderation status will also be applied to the bundle (123). However, the other body assets, such as the left arm (789) and right leg (654), will remain approved. This behavior has existed since we launched the UGC bundle.

The moderation status for a mesh or image will propagate up from the asset level to the bundle level. This same hierarchy applies to both 3D assets and bundles. In other words, if a texture is moderated, then that texture and its supported assets and bundles will be moderated. Unsupported assets, however, won’t be affected.
