Derp Face left as a glitched limited

Hello,
The following item, Derp Face, was mistakenly released as a limited item back in 2012, for 5 robux and 100 stock. This was during the 2012 April Fools Hack, so it was not intended behavior. After this incident all copies of this item had been deleted.

In 2016, this items appearance was updated to the modern style of current Roblox faces, fitting in with other current classic faces being sold on the website.

(I used the Roblox Wiki and old footage and webpages of this face during the hack for research on this topic.)

Expected behavior

I believe if this issue was fixed, we should be able to purchase the Derp Face in the future, either as a normal/limited item. This item currently has no stock, so this wouldn’t affect previous owners. The appearance of this face was already updated, so it’s also not like Roblox wants to completely preserve the items history.

Nonetheless, this face going limited was never intended by Roblox, and I believe instead of being scrapped it should have some use, whether being sold in a future sale or becoming an permanent addition to the catalog.

this is more of a feature request than a bug

Roblox staff describe bugs as things that are not working as intended. This exploit affected this item in 2012, leading it to become a limited item with 100 stock when it was never supposed to be released this way.

I mean, the item was uploaded on behalf of a bad actor who had gained access to the Roblox admin panel. From all we know this item may have never been intended to be released. Just like bigfatoldfish I believe this falls more under a feature-request as you are asking for the item to be rereleased in some capacity.

There are a number of other items like this one that were released in this state, do you plan on making bug reports for them too? What about items that are currently on the marketplace but haven’t yet been made obtainable; are they bugged aswell? I think this comes down to what your definition of a bug is vs. what the staff sees it as. As of more recently, items that have been mistakenly published by the Roblox account have been removed/deleted. Should the same be the case for these items, or should they be kept up as is.

It was published in November 23rd, 2011. It was not published during the hack.

My mistake, I should have said “released.” With that said there are a number of other assets published that have not been released, are those bugged aswell?

The difference between Derp Face and other items that have never gone onsale is intent. If Roblox had left the Derp Face completely unreleased for the past 13 years, that’d be a different story then the item accidently going onsale as a glitched limited, completely ruining the chances of this item ever going onsale.

Yes, there is cases of this hack publishing and releasing other unreleased items, but this is not one of them. This item was released before anything was breached, and I believe Roblox had plans for this item that were ruined with what happened to the catalog.

This cannot be confirmed by anyone else other than Roblox staff, so I’m currently waiting to see what they have to say about it.

As far as I’ve seen the other items that were uploaded as glitched limiteds during the breach were also uploaded before the breach itself. The only items that were uploaded at the time of the breach that I’ve seen are the “c:” face and the “Hai guize derp” face. You can quickly check the time at which the mesh and texture were uploaded by Roblox for these items, they were all before the breach.

Update: Derp Face was updated today and 100% has no current stock besides Roblox which is going to ultimately buy it. Now would be the perfect time to make this a normal item, likewise what happened with other glitched limiteds such as Horns of the Creature

This items original price was 5 robux, adjusted for todays face prices it’d be put at 10 (Since the only lowest Classic Face is 10 robux.)

Seems like roblox decided to abandon this item because its showing not resellable

Although that is true, that shouldn’t remove any possibility of this item becoming a normal onsale. Of course it wouldn’t be resellable if the only current copy is owned by Roblox.

Should go onsale, making it a nonresellable limited is just pointless,
making posts like this normally make the items go backwards because roblox always puts the lowest/cheapest fix possible

Shouldn’t be too difficult to change an item from limited to a normal onsale considering the example I linked

I’d love to see what type of response this will receive. whether this will be a limited or forever stuck as it is now, it’ll be nice to receive an answer of some sort.
