Designing a Game Menu

Hi, I’m currently working on a SciFi based RPG game: AstrO.

I’m adamant on having a sort of Home Screen for Players when they first join the game; however, I’m unsure of how to do this for a scifi game or what may possibly be the best or most appealing course of action.

Things I have tried:

  • Planetary background.
  • Simple Stars approaching the camera giving the illusion of ‘warp speed’; displaying the game title.

All suggestions welcome.

Hey There! So my first question is do you have a map? My second question is do you know how to use cutscenes? If “Yes” for both I personally think you should have your menu screen as it is but the background is the cutscene! I think the cutscene should be looped until they press “Play” and the cutscene sould showcase the map! :grinning:

Hello there, if you are making a Sci-Fi game I suggest using cutscenes to spice up your game.

There is a great non-choppy cutscene plugin for free. It has a wide range of options from animations, to focusing on parts.

More information and download the plugin on this post:

I think the planetary background and warp speed were good ideas.
You could try a sort of star-craft-esque main menu.
