I’ve recently met a guy who threatened me of stealing my game and my friend’s and he’s been mentioning this Dev Explorer thing called Dex. Which allows anyone to download your game and basically sell or upload it as their own.
I don’t really know if there’s any solution to it, If there is, please consider letting me know!
It is basically just an “Explorer” like GUI that allows them to view whats in your game. Its nothing really special, regarding the place stealing… well anyone can already do that without dex. There is no solution, they honestly can’t do too much. Don’t let the threats get to you. Just secure your remotes and you are all set!
Edit: It just yoinks clientside stuff just like any other “place stealer” the game most likely wouldn’t even function if they did try to sell it or use it.
The only thing you can really do in this situation is report him if he does decide to steal it. Even threats are against the roblox ToS. Bookmark his account so you never loss his identity. It is what i did when i had a exploiter do stuff to me. Also, use any admin you have in your game to ban him so it might prevent him from doing it a tiny bit.
Support is your best option.
Yea going off with what kinkocat said, there are countless exploits that can do this (obviously not naming them). But to note, they can only “steal” client-sided items. So anyone can steal models, local scripts, and anything local. They can’t steal server-sided items such as anything stored in ServerStorage, server scripts, and such because it is not even replicated to them (they never even see it). So when they say steal, they aren’t talking about your whole game, really just models without any scripts.
It’s pretty much impossible to patch these exploits as you literally need to send information to the client in order for them to play. You should just report anyone that gives a threat or even uses any exploits.
I’d be sure to keep a note on keeping everything server-sided.
