Developing a roleplay game

So, I’m making a Roleplay game and i would like to get some ideas and stuff i should think of when doing a pretty big project by myself (I’m not a new user that thinks i can do anything, i have some experience)

My ideas

  • more foliage and detail
  • smooth systems that’s not buggy
  • custom gun system

I want to get more experience in coding by challenging myself to code as much as i can without any help. How do i learn to code as optimized as i can? is there something special way to code more optimized?

Optimization

I’m thinking of using streaming enabled for optimization as it is a big map and i want t have much detail and foliage around the map. in the start and after a while creating a custom render system to my liking.
I’m also thinking of changing most of the houses to just blocks with decals, like ER:LC did in the beginning, and redoing all building to make them optimized.

what i would like to get some help with

  • how do i manage all of this?
  • how do i keep myself from just giving up and to stay motivated?
