It always boggled me that they are not entirely transparent with their rules regarding infractions, considering that many of their developers are oldschool players who literally cannot check their past infringements, let alone figure out if they would void potentially years of work on a game.
Seems like a very unprofessional decision, and I wonder if anyone from the ROBLOX team who reads this can chime in on why this is the case; I’m sure there’s a good reason. Why are the DevEx terms so vague regarding past infraction? The devex page only says “some violations are particularly egregious”. Which ones? Should I be worried because I …maybe??.. said some no-no words back in 2010? What about the random content rejections?
Is there even a way to check old infringements nowadays?
As a dev who’s been working on a really ambitious project for over half a year now, with the hopes of turning it into a living (at least for a period), this kind of stuff always makes me worry if I’m putting my time and effort in the right place.
The vision I have in my mind is even something as basic as a red message somewhere relevant saying “Due to past infringements, you are highly unlikely to be accepted to the DevEx program” if the system detects you’ve commited “particularly egregious” violations, just so we don’t waste each-other’s time.
Yes there should be some sort of way that they can notify us previously with a bot, maybe a sort of % Chance of acceptance or a 3 level system (Undoubtedly, Possibly, Not a chance)
It also is not clear on why i was rejected which is very frustrating, i feel like there should be more communication between ROBLOX and Devs towards situations like these. I know im not one of the top developers on ROBLOX but im bringing users towards their platform possibly, making them play (Same for any other developer)
And as you said i dont like how actions when you were 9/10 years old and immature can hold this against you in the future when im trying to devex, all the false bans etc. Also as i said i was scammed as a kid so i lost my account so god knows how many infractions went against my account then and what for.
But totally agreed, Now i feel like the past months of learning how to develop and putting my time and effort into creating this into an actual game was a waste of time. Of course i dont develop on ROBLOX just so i can have a dominus, I started in hopes of this possibly becoming a full time job (Or atleast a good chunk towards my salary i earn a year)
That’s a weird decision, I wonder what knucklehead read your request.
There are a few things you have not mentioned yet that could be a possibility why. Here are some DevEx terms:
Be at least 13+ YO
Verified E-Mail address
Member of Roblox Premium
If you meet those, here are possibilities why it got cancelled:
Failure to complete Tax Forms (I don’t think that’s it, you don’t have a DevEx account yet)
Any of the following moderations in the past: scamming, phishing, false advertising, attempting to exchange Robux for real currency other than through DevEx, any illegal or unethical activities.
What’s frustrating is anybody who reads your request can accept or deny on a personal decision, which sucks if you’re overwhelmed with work (Roblox is understaffed, to say the least).
Just try again. If they continue to deny your request, contact support at Support and they can provide you with a reason to denied requests.
As a side note, I want to say that once you get accepted to make a DevEx account, do your taxes! Many people end up getting rejected payouts because of faulty or miswritten reports. If you are in the U.S., you have to submit a W-9 tax form and your payment is informed to the IRS.
Honestly it has baffled me. I do not understand how I cannot be accepted as the past infractions were around 7-8 years ago as previously stated, as you said I’m just hoping this is a one off someone having a bad day. Hopefully I’m accepted this time.
Although if the worker was lazy he would of seen I was previously rejected, but in fact this was so I could edit my amount from 100,450 to 100,000 as I added my premium money by accident and contacted them swiftly about this.
I got a response today saying that they couldn’t verify I was the original account holder, so I have to send original email and billing info which should all be good
This is likely because my email has been changed from parents to mine as I grew older and the card is no longer my parents being used but mine. Also being scammed the IP adress of my logins must be all over the place, obviously raising alarms
Ive gotten warned for clickbait ads lol, does it mean that ill be able to dev ex? Do you know? And also I got warned once last night and the other time 2 months ago. Im not sure if roblox will take action against it since I wasnt even able to run the ad.
I’ve actively had my account banned for 7 days while my dev ex successfully processed iirc. Or I was warned while it was processing and it still worked. Idk.
I randomly got false warned one day for “trading/buying/selling robux on an external platform” (even though I didnt) and got my entire group locked for days. 800k robux was locked in with the group. Roblox ended up investigating and finding no issues, but having that on my record freaked me out for my future dev ex ability. It ended up causing no problems for future dev ex.
I wouldn’t worry too much about warnings or suspensions unless it was clear you falsified robux.
if i did have lots of robux i could turn into DevEx (which i don’t) I’ve been banned multiple times (temporary) all of them are my accidents would i still make it?
Don’t Forget always follow ToS.
scam accusations are more severe than most warns. Yet again I went through the same thing and had my entire group locked for a week until they figured out it was false reported. Had over 500k robux in it, and I never had a dev ex rejected yet. So you might be fine.
I’d say if they have enough proof that you didn’t actually scam someone, you’d be fine. I’ve done some research to see if I’m eligible, because I am about to release my first big game, and I’ve seen that these moderation acts total your chances:
scamming, phishing, false advertising, attempting to exchange Robux for real currency other than through DevEx, any illegal or unethical activities.
Scamming is on there, so that will definitely be a big obstacle. Any other moderation acts that are for example, just one day long, won’t effect you.
