DevForum Staff, Do They Have To Act A Certain Way?

I didn’t know where this would go so if its in the wrong category, please inform me

Ok so lets get to the point

DevForum staff

DevForum staff are quite well known around the forum, although they help alot and intend to follow all rules, is there a rule saying they have to act a certain way when replying and posting, are they forced to change their personality into a more serious perspective?

If so, why? Why are you forced to change? I think everybody should have rights to act with their own personality, and from my perspective, every staff sounds extremely official to me, meaning they had something done to them to make them do that in my mind, if im incorrect, sorry for the inconvenience

And can staff get warnings/posts taking down if their a staff? Could they be removed from the forums with a bad attitude (insulting people or anything against ToS)

Certainly not. I hope you aren’t thinking that they’re being hypnotized or something.

No they don’t have to act official, but usually, replies from a corporate level source is often just that. If you do enough browsing, you can see that many staff members can get pretty casual sometimes.

Plus, I don’t think this is that official:

Thank you for letting us know, we’re looking into the issue.

Just because the replies aren’t “thx for letting us know peace out yall” doesn’t make them official.

Of course. No one is above the rules. But, unless they get hacked, they don’t break rules.

I think certain questions like the one in question can easily be answered by oneself if they do enough browsing. :slightly_smiling_face:

The staff have to act a certain way. Think about flight attendents, they act in a way complient to their company. Doesn’t mean they are like that in real life. Its all about professionalism in the workplace.

Dev rel (and all of roblox’s employees for that matter) not only represent themselves but the company as well (being even more true for public facing staff such as dev rel), Therefor should have to to act in this ‘formal’ way (And they may have to) to not damage the company’s reputation.

However underneath the canned responses ive had some pretty enjoyable and pretty amusing experiences with dev rel, just like us they are humans not hypnotised. You most likely are going to have a completely different view of them as someone who deals with your posts being taken down, in comparison to their actual friends in their social lives.

Id imagine staff won’t receive formal warnings / strikes however if you do see a post which is offensive (most likely unintentionally, its obvious to see how inclusive and support dev rel try and be.) your always welcome to shoot them a DM explaining politely why you received the post in bad taste and im sure they would be happy to work towards an agreeable solution.

If you’re bearing the Roblox Staff badge, you’re representing Roblox. This is the same at every job, every company, ever.

Most of the time it’s not something anyone needs to force, it’s just common sense. They’re at work, they act professional.

Whether or not you consider your time on Roblox as a job and professional or just a hobby or a game is up to you, but for the staff, it’s work.

People who aren’t staff but still treat Roblox as a job are generally professional too. It seems like it’s really hard to do when you’re growing up, but when you’re an adult with a job it’s just natural for most people.

My posts being taken down is definitely not apart of this, i usually take down my posts by flagging them, most of the time the Community gets them down before i do, but i feel joy when my posts get taken down because its a reminder that im still growing in knowledge

But this doesn’t mean i only make posts to get them taken down.

DevForum staff act a certain way because they are supposed to be the role models. You are expected to act a certain way on this forum. It’s not like a solid “change your personality or die!” It’s more like a “please just read the rules and follow what the staff are doing. Listen to what they say to you and abide by the rules.”

Like at all companies, Roblox staff are expected to follow a number of standards, including standards on customer and community interactions. If a staff member is not conducting themselves appropriately, it will be handled by Human Resources.

Simply said DevForum staff are the public servants of DevForum. They work under a formal corporation and with this said they are expected to be professional, polite, and helpful. They do an extremely good job doing this and these staffs are the best support staff I’ve ever seen. They make good role models and they also make Roblox as a company look good. Also when it comes to posting and taking down any sort of post they are expected to push any sort of bias out of the way and do their job.

Remember they are getting paid to do this and to uphold a specific standard that’s why they act very professional and official. If the staff got removed from forums for violating rules or breaking TOS they would probably lose their job as a Roblox DevForum staff member.
