Device Simulator

Pretty simple suggestion, my current problem is “omg X GUI doesn’t work on iPad” etc, but I don’t have an iPad

An option under Start Player, something like Start iPad Player, Start iPhone Player, and etc for Android devices.

I completely support this. Right now, I have to depend on my younger brother who lives hours away to test my games on iPad. Quite sad.

As a work around for this for now if you or anyone needs me to test their game on iOS devices tell me what device and game and I’ll give you feedback as OSX has a simulator already built in.

I still wish roblox had the similator, as we all know not all have all the devices (brags i have all xD) anyway. Having the simulator makes it easier for people that does not have them all or some at all.

How did you get the Roblox Mobile app on iOS Simulator?!

As a work around for this right now you can use UserInputService, detect a mobile player and kick them muaha.

As a temporary work-around you can use BlueStacks as an Android emulator.

1 issue with that awesome software, what happens if you do not have the needed device? :stuck_out_tongue:

What do you mean? All you need is a google account and you can download any Android app that you have bought or that is free from the market. No Android device required.

I mean things like iPhones, iPod touches (not to be confused with the classic, which I have), and iPads.

As far as iOS emulation I can’t help there, but with Android emulation BlueStacks doesn’t require a device. It emulates the touch controls with your basic PC mouse and keyboard.

Can I just ask what phones you guys use? I personally find it hard to assume developers are using BlackBerry or Windows Phone.

Using a Windows Phone and would either like a ROBLOX app for it or an official method for testing how games feel on mobile in order to better optimize my present and future games.

You have a better chance of being an official YouTube app for Windows phone than a ROBLOX app.

Even Google has deemed the Windows App Store horrible to the extent that the don’t see a reason to officially support it. Last Q Windows Phone made up around 2% of the smart phone market.

And because I just have to ask… Why did you choose Windows phone over iOS or Android? I mean BlackBerry has security so I get that but Windows Phone? That’s assuming you had a say in it.

I am not trying to be rude I just want to understand why one would get a windows phone because I’m doing research on it for a future blog post on my blog (www.dailyjon.com.cc)

Also you cannot rely on offset alone for mobile devices. Some devices are as low as 320x480 and having an offset size of 100 for X axis (which is fine for desktops) takes up 1/3 of the screen.

If you want to optimize your UIs for mobile at least start with recreating your UIs to work with scale, even if the scale version only shows on mobile.

When it comes to mobile you have to assume every mobile resolution from 240x320 to the qHD on the G3 or S5 Prime. So to reverse this, 100 offset on a 4k screen just wouldn’t work.

I prefer the Microsoft ecosystem over others.

Totally agree, I have ran into the same problems, I don’t have a mobile device, and I support a mobile specific version of my game, and rely on one of my players to tell me how everything works out  neither do I have the ram to successfully run an emulator for a mobile device.

Yeah, the market share is really tiny and the apps aren’t numerous, but…

It has really great animations.
Pretty speedy and lightweight and secure, but these are mostly because of the lack of features in the OS.
Has the best technology in mobile keyboards due to Microsoft’s Office suite - it dynamically changes the size of buttons without you noticing based on how likely it thinks you will type a word. Pretty smart.
It’s an escape I like to have from modern giants in the mobile and web industry. Google is evil. Apple is… I don’t like their business strategy.

I don’t actually have a phone, but my mum has a low-end Windows Phone and I think it’s pretty decent.
I don’t like to support Google because it’s becoming too big. They’re just buying every company they like the look of and aren’t stopping at anything. YouTube has been through a really rough time with Google. Twitch will now encounter the same things. I’m actually quite surprised Google didn’t offer Oculus loads of cash to win out over Facebook. There’s something sinister I see in Google, and I don’t know what it is, and I don’t really like it.

i welcome our google overlords

All hail the mighty Google, who will bring us world unity!

btw maik me a tablet sim. nao.

Google is the opposite of evil. I find it evil that the Nexus 5 has the same stats as an iPhone 5 but it’s half the price.
