Devlog Entry #1: TCG Game

Hello everyone! I’m Morse, and I’ve been a solo dev on Roblox for 5 years. I’ve decided to put my skills to the test, bringing me to the decision of making my first dedicated Roblox game.

Details:
Ever since I was young, I had a noticeable interest in card games, specifically Pokemon TCG, YuGiOh, etc etc. With the passion, motivation and uncontainable boredom in my soul, I dedicated myself to creating a small TCG game in Roblox.

Progress:
For the first day (or week :monkey_face: I hate scripting UI) I decided to work on arguably the most important mechanics of the game: obtaining cards. I designed a card and made it function, for now at least. I created a spritesheet for a test card:

and made a custom module for loading the spritesheet and creating animations:

I also designed a rough draft of a card/pack opening system


One day, there will be enough snow days for me to patch the horrible code behind all this

I’ve already created a weighted luck system but I’m too lazy to showcase it with different cards. Hopefully by next week I can create a system for displaying the cards/saving them
